Filmmaker Yi Zhou has publicly accused actor Jeremy Renner, known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, of sending inappropriate and sexually explicit photos, as well as threatening to involve immigration authorities. Renner’s representative strongly denies these accusations in a statement to Page Six.
According to a post by Zhou, actor Jeremy Renner became upset and drank a full bottle of wine during a meeting at his Nevada home where they discussed her documentary, The Chronicles of Disney. She detailed the incident in a written account.
I locked myself in a room for safety, fearing his anger and praying he wouldn’t come in at night. I was terrified and didn’t dare speak.
Zhou contacted a coworker at Disney, and someone from the company asked for her address to know her location.
I confronted him privately about his previous inappropriate behavior and asked him to treat me with respect, both as a woman and as a professional. His response was to threaten to report me to immigration authorities, which was incredibly shocking and frightening.
Zhou shared a conversation with the Daily Wire where Renner allegedly responded with, “Immigration will be notified of your—.”. She wouldn’t share the rest of what Renner supposedly wrote with The Daily Mail. Renner and his team haven’t commented on the situation, but Zhou claims another woman, who Renner allegedly had an affair with, has told The Daily Mail she also plans to speak out.

According to The Daily Beast, Zhou and Jeremy Renner had a short-lived romance while collaborating on a Disney documentary, The Chronicles of Disney, and the animated film Stardust Future. Zhou posted several pictures of herself with Renner online. She claims Renner contacted her via WhatsApp in June 2025 with inappropriate photos and that she then offered him a role in her projects. Zhou recently shared details about their brief relationship in a public post.
It started with him sending me unwanted, explicit images – it felt like a real violation. Then, he convinced me to get into a relationship with him, and it felt like he was buying my affection. As a woman and someone working in film, navigating this situation while also having projects with him coming out has been incredibly difficult. I wrestled with how to talk about it publicly, and ultimately decided framing it as a love story felt more honest and respectful to both of us. I’ve always held him in respect, and I still do, but that respect wasn’t returned when he launched a smear campaign against us online. It’s been awful. I felt like I needed to share the truth about who he is, because the truth is all I have to defend myself with.
A spokesperson for Renner stated that the claims being made are false.
Jeremy Renner is facing serious accusations, and this isn’t the first time he’s been involved in public controversy. In 2019, his ex-wife made several claims against him during a dispute over their daughter. Earlier this year, Renner suffered life-threatening injuries in a snowplow accident and had been working to recover and revive his career. He’d even expressed interest in returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hawkeye, potentially in future projects. While the specifics of the current allegations are still emerging, the recent case involving Jonathan Majors serves as a reminder of how quickly such accusations can impact an actor’s career.
