Winona Ryder and her boyfriend of 14 years, Scott Mackinlay Hahn, were spotted together at the premiere of Stranger Things season five in Hollywood on Thursday. It was a rare public appearance for the couple.
The 54-year-old actress and her partner, a fashion designer she’s been with since 2011, shared a sweet moment holding hands during a quick photo opportunity on the red carpet at the famous TCL Chinese Theatre.
The couple generally prefers to keep their relationship private. They were last seen together publicly at a London screening of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice last year.
Ryder and Hahn color-coordinated in all-black ensembles during the star-studded festivities.
Even after being together for more than ten years, she hadn’t gotten engaged, and she wasn’t wearing a ring on her ring finger.
The actress, known for playing Joyce Byers on the popular Netflix series, wore a sleek black blazer and a long, flowing skirt.

Winona Ryder and Scott Hahn first met in 2010 at the premiere of Black Swan, and they began dating the next year.
Ryder shared that the fashion designer mistook her for actress Milla Jovovich when they first met.
She recounted to Harper’s Bazaar in 2022 that someone mistook her for Milla Jovovich, even telling her they enjoyed her performance in ‘The Fifth Element’.
The star also explained how she liked Hahn not being a part of the entertainment industry.
We had a strong connection, and I was surprised he wasn’t involved in this industry. I made a real effort to keep our relationship private.
In a separate interview with Harper’s Bazaar last year, Ryder shared how fortunate she felt to be in a relationship with Hahn.
‘He’s so great. He really is. I’m really lucky,’ the Oscar-nominated star expressed.
In a 2016 interview with The Edit, Ryder discussed her future and whether she planned to get married, according to Time.
‘Marriage? I don’t know. I’d rather never have been married than been divorced a few times.’
The actress explained that while she has no issue with divorce in general, she personally couldn’t imagine going through it. Having parents who were deeply in love for 45 years set a very high bar for her own relationships.
Winona Ryder hinted in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly that she and Keanu Reeves, her co-star in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, might actually be married.
She jokingly claimed she and her partner may have actually gotten married while filming Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 film, ‘Dracula’. She said the experience felt so real, she sometimes wonders if they truly tied the knot.
Oh my god, you will NOT believe this! Apparently, in that scene – the one with the blessing, right? – Francis actually used a real Romanian priest! Like, a legitimately ordained priest! In 2021, Reeves shared that he and Ryder consider themselves married in God’s eyes.
Keanu Reeves told Esquire they filmed an entire wedding ceremony with actual priests. Winona Ryder and Francis Ford Coppola both believe they are married, so he figures they are, in a spiritual sense.
Before dating Jeff Hahn, Winona Ryder had been romantically involved with several other celebrities, including Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, and Dave Pirner from the band Soul Asylum.
Winona Ryder will return as Joyce Byers for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, with the first four episodes premiering on Netflix on November 26th.
Three more episodes will drop on Christmas Day and the finale will be available on December 31.
The last episode, which is two hours long, will be shown in select theaters for a limited time, starting on New Year’s Eve and running through January 1st.
The movie stars Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalie Dryer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, and Maya Hawke.
Ryder got emotional during a red carpet interview with Netflix, sharing her feelings about working with the cast, especially the younger actors.
‘I feel like this season I got to spend time with all of them, which was incredibly special.’
She became upset and started to cry, saying, ‘I love them so much, and I always will.’
Netflix released the first five minutes of season five on Friday, and fans immediately had a strong emotional reaction.
