A recent report is adding fuel to a rumor about Chris Evans‘ role in Avengers: Doomsday, making it seem increasingly probable.
Filming has finished on Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The movie is set to be released in U.S. theaters in December 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
Although Marvel hasn’t officially announced Chris Evans’s involvement in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ film, many reports suggest he will appear. Fans are curious about what role Evans might play, especially considering his character, Steve Rogers/Captain America, aged and passed the shield to Sam Wilson in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. It’s unclear if he’ll reprise his role as Captain America or play a different character.
Who is Chris Evans rumored to be playing in Avengers: Doomsday?
Last December, Jeff Sneider, a well-connected source in the film industry, reported that Chris Evans would be playing the character Nomad in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. In Marvel comics, Nomad is a different persona Steve Rogers takes on after giving up the role of Captain America. The name Nomad has also been used by other characters, such as Steve’s adopted son, Ian Rogers.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Chris Evans is expected to play the character Nomad in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film, which adds more weight to previous reports from Jeff Sneider suggesting this casting is in the works.
Right now, this is just a rumor, so it’s best to take it with a grain of salt. Besides talk about him playing Nomad, there’s also speculation Chris Evans might appear as Captain Hydra in the next Avengers movie. It’s possible he could play multiple roles, but we’ll have to wait for more official plot details to know for sure.
The next Avengers movie, currently titled ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ is scheduled to release on December 18, 2026. Following that, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is planned for release on December 17, 2027.
