There Are More Hallmark Christmas Movies On The Way This Weekend, But I Don’t Know How The Network Will Top One I Already Watched

It’s officially the holiday season! Christmas movies are starting, and I’m fully prepared with marshmallows and my favorite mug for hot chocolate. I’ve already watched a ton of new Hallmark movies, and there are even more coming out this weekend. I’m not sure anything can beat one I’ve already seen, though!

Do Watch: A Newport Christmas

If you enjoy shows like The Gilded Age, you’ll love Hallmark’s newest movie, filmed in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island. Hallmark has created some great holiday films in the past, including A Biltmore Christmas and A Timeless Christmas, and A Newport Christmas is just as charming. It has everything you want in a holiday romance!

This year’s new romance follows Ginna Claire Mason and Wes Brown in a time travel adventure. Mason delivers a lively performance as a woman from Newport’s glamorous past who is unexpectedly transported to the future by sailboat. She’s amazed by modern inventions like the internet and electric decorations, and surprised by changes in society, such as women wearing pants. However, trouble arises when she starts to fall for Nick, the man assisting her in returning to her own time.

Hallmark usually reserves its strongest holiday movie scripts for its most popular stars, like Lacey Chabert, Bethany Joy Lenz, Erin Krakow, and Alison Sweeney. But the combination of seasoned favorite Candace Cameron Bure with rising star Jessica Mason was a real highlight. Mason has appeared in a Hallmark Christmas movie each year since 2022, though she’s best known for her stage work, including her role in Wicked. Hopefully, she’ll continue to be featured in more Hallmark films in the years to come.

I generally enjoy time travel movies, but this one is a real standout – much better than last year’s A ‘90s Christmas. I’ve already watched it twice, and I think it might become my favorite holiday movie of the year! That’s saying a lot, especially since it’s still early in the holiday season and a lot of new movies and shows are coming out before Christmas.

What’s Coming To Hallmark This Weekend?

Hallmark Channel is making holiday cheer easy to follow this year! They’re consistently debuting a new Christmas movie every Saturday and Sunday through December 21st, having started in mid-October. This weekend, fans can look forward to a new film starring Erin Krakow, and I’m really excited to see it! She’s reuniting with Tyler Hynes, her co-star from the popular 2021 movie It Was Always You. This new movie, Christmas Above the Clouds, is a fresh take on the classic story A Christmas Carol.

I’m really excited about another new Christmas movie coming out! It’s one of those charming European Christmas stories, and it has a fantastic cast – Jonathan Bennett, Brandon Routh, and Eden Sher are all in it. The story follows three siblings who are taking a family cruise down the Danube River, and it’s called A Keller Christmas Vacation. It sounds absolutely perfect for the holidays!

There are still a lot of popular actors and projects coming up, and I’m hoping Hallmark has improved its scripts this year, as many fans hoped last season. The follow-up to last year’s Holiday Touchdown, now featuring the Buffalo Bills, will premiere on November 22nd (and Josh Allen plans to tune in!). Lacey Chabert’s new Hallmark movie this year will star Andrew Walker, a familiar face on the network, and She’s Making A List will air on December 6th.

I’m excited about other shows Hallmark has planned for 2025, but I doubt anything will be as charming and delightful as A Newport Christmas was for me. I hope Hallmark surprises me, but right now, I think that movie—with Brown and Morgan—is truly exceptional, and I’ll keep saying so! If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it.
