Big Brother Australia production ‘in turmoil’ amid ratings worries – as concerns grow that the house ‘won’t be ready’ for Sunday premiere

The Big Brother Australia reboot is set to premiere on Sunday night.

There’s worry before the official release that production is facing difficulties and the project might not be finished on time.

According to a source at Daily Mail, the new building at Dreamworld is facing delays, and some important parts aren’t yet completed.

There are major problems with finishing the Big Brother house, specifically the backyard, and production is worried it won’t be completed by Sunday, according to a source.

The delay happened because of budget cuts. Channel Ten wants to see if the show gets good ratings before investing too much money in the revived series.

According to a source, they held a practice run this week with the new host, Mel Tracina, to help ensure the live show on Sunday goes off without a hitch.

If the house isn’t finished, it could cause major problems for the show. Contestants might have to deal with unfinished spaces, leading to embarrassing or disruptive scenes during the live broadcast.

Channel Ten denied reports of delays, assuring Daily Mail the Gold Coast house renovation would be ‘amazing’.

A network representative confirmed that Big Brother is aware of all activity within the house. They also announced that the house is finished and prepared to welcome its new group of 12 contestants this weekend.

The house features stunning spaces, from cozy lounges to trendy breakout areas, a quirky kitchen, and an eye-catching Diary Room chair – it’s sure to impress both the housemates and those watching at home.

They also promised the show would deliver some playful twists for viewers.

We can’t reveal everything… except that there’s talk of a hidden room in the house! Tune in on Sunday to see Big Brother uncover the truth.

The reboot has already attracted huge interest from the public.

We received over 20,000 applications from people across the country who want to be housemates, and we saw a particularly large increase in applications from Gen Z. Everyone was eager to join!

According to a source at Big Brother, this season’s contestants are one of the most varied and energetic groups the show has ever had.

But the stakes remain high.

Big Brother hasn’t been on Channel 10 since it originally aired from 2001 to 2008, when it was hugely popular and attracted a lot of viewers.

The show moved to Nine from 2012 to 2014, then to Seven from 2020 to 2023, before being cancelled again.

Ten is hoping to attract viewers by reviving classic elements of the show, including live nominations and evictions, and offering a round-the-clock online stream.

However, industry observers remain divided.

In September, Adrian Falk, who comments on reality TV, suggested to the Daily Mail that the show might have trouble attracting younger viewers.

From where I stand, looking at media trends, Ten seems to be missing the point. Younger audiences just aren’t tuning into traditional TV anymore. Their viewership skews older, and honestly, that demographic isn’t particularly interested in reality shows focused on young people being confined to a house. It’s a disconnect between the content and who’s actually watching!

Oh my gosh, they’re bringing back the live shows, and get this – we, the fans, get a say in who gets cast! They seriously think this is how they can bring back that amazing feeling from the early 2000s, and honestly? I really, really hope they’re right. I’m already so hyped!

I’m so excited for the new season of Big Brother! I heard they’re making it super easy to watch – you’ll be able to stream it live 24/7 online through 10 streaming. It’s going to be completely binge-worthy, which is exactly what I want!

Big Brother 2025 will premiere on Sunday, 9 November at 7pm on Channel Ten.
