Mortifying moment Kate Garraway is caught whispering to co-star live on Good Morning Britain – and her microphone picks up EVERYTHING

Kate Garraway was caught whispering to her co-star on live TV during Friday’s Good Morning Britain.

The 58-year-old presenter left viewers confused during the mishap which was broadcast on the telly.

Kate and Adil Ray chatted about current events and the forecast, with Charlotte Hawkins and Laura Tobin joining them in the studio.

We interviewed Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn about their next fight, and also spoke with 100-year-old Alec Penstone, a World War II veteran who continues to sell poppies each year.

Later in the program, Kate and Adil discussed current events with commentators Salma Shah and Caroline Flint.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Salma and Caroline were talking about those awful errors with the recent releases from prison, and then Kate just… started speaking into her microphone! And everyone HEARD it on TV! I was glued to the screen, it was insane! I can’t believe it actually happened, Kate just went for it! I’m replaying it in my head over and over.

She whispered: ‘Okay, let’s have a look.’

Kate continued: ‘Okay, will somebody look at these?’

Taking to X, fans were clearly gooped as they shared their thoughts on the bizarre moment.

One person penned: ‘What was that freaky whispering?’

A second shared: ‘Sounds like Kate whispering something, can’t make it out though.’

Viewers noticed issues with Kate Garraway’s microphone during the broadcast. One person commented that the mic was picking up her quiet remarks, while another asked someone to check if her microphone was even turned on.

One viewer tweeted that they could hear Kate whispering during the conversation, and another agreed, saying they thought they were imagining it.

People continued to comment, and one person wrote, ‘Kate! We can hear you! Oh my gosh, she’s still talking! Kate, we can hear you even while the others are speaking. You aren’t even trying to whisper!’

Despite this, there was no mention of technical issues on the show.

On Good Morning Britain today, Kate and Adil discussed the finale of Celebrity Traitors, where Alan Carr, revealed as a Traitor, won the £87,500 prize.

Singer Cat Burns was the first finalist to be voted out, shortly before Traitor hunter Joe Marler.

Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga later found out Alan’s real identity.

Yesterday, Kate ended up reigniting her feud with Clare Balding live on Good Morning Britain.

Clare discussed her first book, Pastures New, on a recent show. The book, which was released in September, follows a woman who moves to a sheep farm hoping for a new beginning.

Kate, 58, and Ed Balls didn’t start their relationship well, reportedly after Kate jokingly called Ed’s novel a ‘bonk buster’.

Kate quickly tried to explain herself, saying she hadn’t actually said it – she’d only heard it from someone else. She also asked them not to cause problems between her and Clare again.

Clare, I didn’t say that. The producers led us to believe something else, so that’s the understanding we had.

Oh my gosh, when Clare was asked about it, she totally defended her book! She said Jilly Cooper actually asked her to write it, but it’s not one of those scandalous ‘bonk busters’ everyone thinks! She was so clear – it’s a beautiful story about love, and really, about believing in people and trusting in their goodness. It’s just… perfect, honestly.

Kate asked if Clare enjoyed the writing process, mentioning she usually associates Clare with work centered around facts. Clare playfully teased Kate for calling her new project just ‘doing stuff’.

With tensions building, Clare and Kate paused the interview to talk about the upcoming finale of Celebrity Traitors, where it will be revealed if the Traitors or the Faithful win the prize money.

Both actors who played Faithful were wrongly accused by their fellow cast members and eliminated during separate team votes.

During the show, both women had suspected each other at the roundtable.

Kate was upset that Clare immediately identified her as someone to be suspicious of on the show Celebrity Traitors, saying it reminded her of being singled out at a roundtable discussion. She felt it revealed Clare’s character.

Clare snapped back, ‘She wouldn’t stop arguing with me, Ed. She kept insisting someone had mentioned your name, but I never did.’

Oh my god, when Kate called him out – it was amazing! She was like, ‘Seriously? You told everyone you thought it was me?’ It was so direct! Then, she tried to brush it off, saying Jonathan and David both pointed the finger at him, and just wanted to move past it. Honestly, the way she said ‘Let’s carry on…’ was just chef’s kiss – trying to stay calm but clearly annoyed. I was living for it!

Look, as someone who’s seen a lot of relationships, let me be clear: if you’re trying to figure out who to trust in this situation – me or Jonathan – you’re much better off sticking with me, Kate. Trust your gut, and in this case, I truly believe I’m the one you can rely on.

Ed tried to shift their focus back to the book, playfully asking, “Hey, what’s happening? This is way more interesting than watching TV!”

Clare wasn’t finished discussing The Traitors just yet, and she asked if she could quickly share her thoughts.

This discussion centers on creating a platform for everyone to share their opinions. I firmly believe that sports, and shows like Celebrity Traitors, are about more than just the competition itself.

No matter the setting – from government meetings and team practices to school staff discussions or boardroom sessions – there’s always a key topic being debated.

When working in a team, it’s important to both share your own ideas effectively and ensure everyone else has a chance to be heard. How do you contribute without being ignored, while also making sure all team members feel valued and their opinions are considered?

We tend to excuse things based on factors like someone’s background, gender, or age, and also how they present themselves. Comedy allows for a lot of leeway, but comedian Joe Wilkinson had a unique way of delivering jokes – it was as if he was always speaking softly and subtly, almost in a hushed tone.

Many women feel like their voices aren’t being heard, often expressing themselves tentatively and not receiving a response.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX from 6am.
