Chiquis aligns chakras, stands up for immigrants in ‘Flores En Mi Alma’

Chiquis, a popular artist in the Mexican music scene who calls herself the “Queen Bee,” has released a new album called “Flores En Mi Alma” this Thursday.

Chiquis, the eldest daughter of the iconic Jenni Rivera and a three-time Latin Grammy winner, uniquely blends spiritual practices like meditation with activism and speaking out.

Chiquis uses her music and platform to speak out about the difficult situation facing immigrants. She shares messages of empowerment through practices like daily affirmations and meditation, and in songs like “Pa’ Mi Gente,” she highlights the experiences and value of immigrant workers, using traditional cumbia rhythms to amplify their stories. She’s determined to make her voice heard on this important issue.

In the song “Somos,” she sings “No hay frontera que nos quedan grandes,” emphasizing that we all share a connection to the Earth and belong to it.

Earlier this year, De Los interviewed Chiquis after a concert on her Diamantes tour. Chiquis shared that she was looking to evolve her music and explore ways to combine traditional Mexican sounds with elements of meditation.

Chiquis recently told the Times she needs to take some time to refocus on her music and find new inspiration. She described it as needing a break and hinted that changes are on the way.

In the matter of a few months, she cracked the code.

Moving away from her signature banda style, “Flores En Mi Alma” blends cumbia, reggae, and R&B with modern Mexican music. The eight-song album also features very low frequencies – many are inaudible – designed to create a sensory experience by connecting with listeners’ energy centers.

I’ve been following Chiquis for years, since her early reality TV days and now with her podcast, ‘Chiquis and Chill.’ Her last album, ‘Diamantes,’ really felt like a turning point for her. It was all about her learning to trust herself and how strong she is, and honestly, it showed a whole new level of self-awareness and maturity that I hadn’t seen before. It’s like she’s really come into her own!

As a big fan of Chiquis, I was really moved by what she shared recently. She talked about how incredibly tough things have been, especially growing up as Jenni Rivera’s daughter and dealing with everything that followed after her passing. She said the whole concept behind her album, ‘Diamantes’ – being a diamond – really helped her make sense of it all and pull through.
