Kelsey Grammer shared how his grown-up children reacted to him becoming a father again at the age of 70 with the birth of his new son.
Last month, actor Kelsey Grammer and his wife, Kayte Walsh, welcomed their eighth child – a baby boy named Christopher. Walsh is 46 years old.
The newborn baby is his fourth with his wife and his eighth overall.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I just read the interview in People! He said it himself – his other kids are ecstatic! I’m seriously melting. It’s just… everything about this is perfect. I knew they’d be happy for him!
It’s been ‘awesome and fantastic’ having their ‘new baby’ at home, he told the outlet.
‘The family’s ecstatic,’ says Grammer. ‘We’re all really having a great time. It’s really lovely.’
Looking back on the last year, he shared that his family is closer than ever, and he’s really proud of that bond.
He first shared the news of their baby’s arrival during an appearance on the Pod Meets World podcast on October 27th.
He and his wife, a former flight attendant he met in 2009 and married in 2011, have three children: Faith, 13, Gabriel, 11, and James, 8.
He also has four adult children from previous relationships.
He has two daughters: Spencer, age 42, from his marriage to Doreen Alderman, and Greer, age 33, from his relationship with Barrie Buckner.
He has two children with his third wife, Camille Meyer Grammer: a daughter, Mason, age 24, and a son, Jude, age 21.
While talking about his memoir, Karen: A Brother Remembers, which is about his sister, he mentioned that his wife recently had their fourth child, bringing their total number of children to eight.
He told podcast hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong that his new baby was born about three days ago. He shared that the baby’s name is Christopher.
Earlier this year, the couple revealed they were expecting a baby together.
In June 2025, photos surfaced of Grammer and Walsh in London, with Walsh appearing to be pregnant.
Last month, Grammer discussed his relationship with his children, mentioning he’s been reconnecting with his older kids.
‘I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two,’ he admitted.
He explained that he’s trying to be a better father now, adding that a parent can always try to be there for their children.
He also told the outlet about his upcoming film Karen Kingsbury’s The Christmas Ring.
While filming, Kelsey Grammer’s colleague, Benjamin Hollingsworth, jokingly teased him about becoming a new father.
‘My kids came to set and met Kelsey,’ he recounted. ‘And he was very kind to them.’
Holingsworth also mentioned they discussed fatherhood, and surprisingly, he welcomed his eighth child this year.
‘So, he’s got a newborn at home. I was giving him lots of crap about that.’
Their new Christmas movie premieres in theaters on November 6.
