The Fans Can’t Get Enough Of Seeing What Canceled HGTV Stars Are Up To (But They Still Miss Their Favorite Shows)

HGTV canceled seven shows this summer, meaning several series will be ending in 2025. The cancellations included programs featuring well-known personalities like Alison Victoria, Christina Haack, and Jonathan Knight. Fans were also disappointed to see the end of the home renovation series Bargain Block, starring Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas. The hosts recently shared what they’re working on now, but their followers are still sad to no longer see them on television.

What Have The Hosts Of HGTV’s Canceled Bargain Block Been Up To And What Are Fans Saying About It?

Fans were disappointed to learn that Bargain Block won’t be returning for the 2025 TV season. It was canceled in June along with other HGTV and DIY Network shows like Farmhouse Fixer, Married to Real Estate (the hosts found out about the cancellation right after their vacation), Izzy Does It, and Christina on the Coast, one of Christina Haack’s shows.

It was particularly upsetting for Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas – the hosts and renovation experts behind the Detroit-based series Bargain Block (which also had a spinoff in New Orleans this year) – when the show was cancelled. They had received confirmation of a fifth season just months prior, in December, but that decision was reversed in February. Now, they’re sharing updates on their latest projects on Instagram after the disappointing news. Check it out!

Okay, so it looks like Chip and Joanna are definitely enjoying a well-deserved break, which is great. But knowing them, and after reading Chip’s post about having ‘projects to show y’all,’ I’m guessing they’ve already scouted out a ton of fixer-uppers just waiting for their magic touch. Basically, they’re probably already planning the next season, and I, for one, am excited!

I really enjoy watching HGTV’s Bargain Block. It’s similar to other heartwarming renovation shows like Home Town. Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas focus on revitalizing the most rundown houses in a Detroit neighborhood, and they save money by handling all the renovations themselves. They even lived in some of the homes during the process to supervise the work and protect the properties.

HGTV recently posted about fall TV, and fans were upset by what they saw as a joke about shows being canceled. Many are worried their favorite programs might not return.

I really appreciated their dedication to revitalizing a community, especially because they made the rebuilt homes affordable for first-time buyers. Judging by the enthusiastic responses online, many others feel the same way. People are happy to see them doing well, but we’re all eager to have them back on TV soon – even with all the new House Hunters episodes coming out! Here’s what people are saying:

  • getchurasses back on tv! Surely someone can produce a show for y’all that isn’t prohibitively expensive! Your show was so damned good, in so many ways.
  • Miss seeing you guys and your amazing transformations. You and Evan are so talented. Happy to see your smiling faces. Great pictures!!
  • You all are greatly missed 📺Glad that you are having a good journey to different cool places 🤠 Take care!
  • HGTV is not the same. Always the “high end shows” that are out of most people’s reach to renovate
  • Still so miss seeing all of your happy faces on Bargain Block. I have many of the episodes recorded, and never tire of watching them over and over. It was the dumbest decision those clueless execs ever made. Guessing their network’s ratings have suffered because of it. If so, it serves them right.

It’s unclear if Bynum and Thomas will be back on HGTV with a new show, but they’re staying positive after the cancellation and know their many fans will support their future projects, wherever those may be.
