Honestly, it really frustrates me to see how little has changed since the huge conversations around MeToo and Times Up back in 2017 and 2018. We all hoped those movements would genuinely create a more equal environment for women working behind the camera in Hollywood, but it feels like we’re still facing the same problems. Kristen Stewart has voiced how deeply disappointed she is, and I completely get it – it’s devastating to see so little progress.
The 35-year-old Oscar nominee jokingly mentioned she was experiencing severe premenstrual symptoms while giving a seven-minute speech at the Academy Women’s Luncheon in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Kristen spoke at the Academy Museum about how, following the rise of the MeToo movement, it felt like stories created by and about women were finally being recognized and valued. She expressed hope that women would be freely encouraged to share their experiences – all of them – without needing to censor themselves.
I’ve seen firsthand how difficult it is to share content that deals with sensitive or taboo subjects. Being honest about experiences many women have, often leads to strong negative reactions and outright dismissal.
Wearing a full Chanel outfit from the Spring/Summer 2026 collection, Stewart went on to say, ‘We can talk about pay inequality, taxes on feminine hygiene products, and measure inequality in many ways, but the real harm comes from being told we shouldn’t even be upset. I’m incredibly angry, and I feel like I could destroy this podium right now.’
The actress from Sacramento explained that losing ground after a small improvement is incredibly discouraging, based on what the data shows.

Kristen expressed frustration with the lack of films directed by women in the past year. She jokingly suggested that more social gatherings for women – ‘ladies who lunch’ – are needed to address the imbalance.
It’s just… there aren’t enough of us. Seeing everyone here today, it feels huge, but honestly, it’s still not nearly enough. It’s not our fault, you know? Things are a mess, a total emergency, and the absolute last thing I want is for this whole incredible thing, this celebration, to be destroyed, to just fall apart into a pile of… well, you know. It would be devastating.
It’s okay to feel proud of what we’ve accomplished, and to genuinely appreciate the kindness we often show others – to truly feel that gratitude ourselves.
Stewart made it clear she doesn’t appreciate the way some businesses act like they’re inclusive while actually taking advantage of women and dismissing their opinions.
“Let’s avoid becoming irrelevant,” the young, homeschooled person stated. “Let’s begin creating our own money instead.”
Kristen attended a feminist event with her wife, Dylan Meyer. The couple married on April 20th after dating for six years.
A photo circulated on Election Day showing 37-year-old Stewart, whose father is Oscar-nominated screenwriter Nicholas Meyer, with actress Thora Birch, her co-star from the film ‘Chronology of Water’. Both were sporting ‘I Voted’ stickers.
As a lifestyle expert, I always say – don’t be afraid to speak up! I saw a great post from Dylan recently encouraging everyone to really make their voices heard, and I couldn’t agree more. They put it perfectly: if you have a chance to share your opinion, shout it from the rooftops! In this case, they were specifically supporting Proposition 50, but the message applies to everything – use your voice!
Thora plays Claudia in the first film directed by a former star of the Twilight series. It will be shown in a few US cinemas in December, with a broader release planned for January.
Kristen’s film, based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s 2011 memoir, runs for 128 minutes and features Imogen Poots, Jim Belushi, and Tom Sturridge.

Currently, the film Chronology of Water has a score of 6.5 out of 10 on IMDb. Critics have given it a 94% approval rating, based on 34 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
Stewart, Meyer, and Maggie Mclean started their own production company, Nevermind Pictures, in 2023. Their next film will be called The Wrong Girls.
The singer, known as Love Me, plays a character named Frankie, a marijuana user, in Dylan’s first film as director. The movie, a thriller involving a case of mistaken identity, is being produced by Neon.
Meyer dedicated thirteen years to perfecting the screenplay for The Wrong Girls, a film starring Alia Shawkat, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, LaKeith Stanfield, and Tony Hale.
People say Kristen first met the blonde woman in 2013 while filming American Ultra.
The actress, who is attracted to both men and women, has reportedly dated a number of people, including Sara Dinkin, Stella Maxwell, St. Vincent, Soko, Nicholas Hoult, Alicia Cargile, Lane Garrison, and the late Anton Yelchin.
According to Variety, Kristen Stewart will be heading to Paris next month to film her part as Woody Harrelson’s daughter, Madeleine, in Quentin Dupieux’s new dark comedy, Full Phil, for Studiocanal.
Besides this new role, the former child star is also working on two other projects: a vampire movie called Flesh of the Gods, directed by Panos Cosmatos, and a limited series for Amazon MGM called The Challenger, which tells the story of astronaut Sally Ride.
