Dukes of Hazzard icon Catherine Bach, 71, seen for the first time after ‘hospitalization for embolism’

Catherine Bach, best known for her role in “The Dukes of Hazzard,” is reportedly recovering after being hospitalized with a blood clot.

The 71-year-old actress was seen happily walking her dog on a sunny day, appearing to be in good health.

Even though she’d recently been unwell, Bach seemed healthy enough to take her dog for his usual walk.

She walked down the sidewalk in a brown long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and pink sneakers, with her cute dog happily following along.

This news follows recent public messages of support for Catherine Bach from her former Dukes of Hazzard castmates, after Ben Jones shared details about what led to her hospitalization.

Catherine Bach, known for her role on ‘The Dukes of Hazzard,’ was unexpectedly hospitalized in Los Angeles, according to a now-deleted Facebook post by friends Jones and Alma, as reported by Parade magazine.

Catherine recently had a blood clot, likely due to her surgery. We’ll share updates as she recovers, and she’s very sorry to have to cancel her appearance at Cooter’s this weekend. Please send her your good thoughts and prayers. With love, Ben and Miss Alma.

Bach had to reschedule his planned appearances at Cooter’s Place in Nashville because of unexpected issues.

The Dukes of Hazzard Museum and Shop in Nashville announced on Facebook that Catherine Bach’s scheduled appearance at Cooter’s Place on November 1st and 2nd, 2025, has been canceled due to unexpected issues.

Catherine and Cooter’s Place apologizes for any trouble this may cause. We’re working on finding a new date and will let everyone know as soon as it’s confirmed. We appreciate your patience and support!

Tom Wopat and John Schneider, also known for their roles in The Dukes of Hazzard, were among those who offered support to Bach.

Wopat posted a sweet throwback image of him with Bach as he sent his ‘thoughts and prayers’ to her.

Tom Wopat and his band, the Webcrew, are wishing Catherine Bach well after she was recently admitted to the hospital, according to a post he shared.

On October 30, Dukes of Hazzard alum John Schneider had a more positive update to share with fans.

Just wanted to let all my Dukes of Hazzard family know that I reached out to Catherine, and she quickly got back to me. She’s currently in the hospital, but she says she’s going to be okay.

Catherine is so grateful for all your prayers and support. She’s really sad that she won’t be able to travel this weekend, but sends her love to everyone!

According to the Cleveland Clinic, an embolism happens when something blocks a blood vessel. This is usually a blood clot that forms somewhere else in the body and then travels through the bloodstream until it gets stuck.

The Daily Mail reached out to representatives for Bach for a statement, but they haven’t responded yet.

Between 1979 and 1985, “The Dukes of Hazzard” was a popular CBS show that drew large audiences eager to watch the adventures of the three Duke cousins and the trouble they found themselves in.

This fun, family-friendly show takes place in the countryside of Georgia and centers on cousins Luke and Bo Duke, played by Tom Wopat and John Schneider. Though on probation, they constantly find themselves getting into mischief, usually by trying to stop the dishonest plans of Boss Hogg, the crooked county commissioner.

Over the show’s 147 episodes, the characters receive support from their cousin Daisy, who became a popular figure known for her attractiveness, and their thoughtful uncle Jesse.

Catherine was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 1, 1954. She began her acting career in 1973 with a role in the film The Midnight Man.

Legend has it that Catherine impressed the directors of The Dukes of Hazzard so much in her audition that they immediately offered her the role of Daisy Duke.

Daisy’s extremely short shorts quickly became popular and were even named after her, becoming a must-have fashion item.

The part made her a huge star. A poster of her in the role of Daisy was a massive hit, selling five million copies and even attracting the attention of First Lady Nancy Reagan.

The actress gained attention while on the show when it became public that she had taken out a $1 million insurance policy on her legs.

She once explained her reason for getting insurance, saying she tends to take risks. ‘I ski,’ she added, implying that was one example of her adventurous side.

When I began the show, I owned a plane, but the producers asked me to sell it. I tend to be adventurous and do a lot of risky things, so the studio decided it would be a good idea to insure my legs in case I got hurt.

Following the end of The Dukes of Hazzard, Catherine appeared in several more films, including the action movie Street Justice, Driving Force from 1989, the motorcycle film Masters of Menace, and the comedy-drama The Breakup Girl.

Her last role was in 2015, when she starred in the movie Book of Fire.

I’ve been a fan of hers for years, and I remember being so excited when she started her jewelry collection at Debenhams back in 2002! It’s a shame she’s been keeping out of the public eye lately, but I understand wanting some privacy. I also know she was married to David Shaw for a few years in the seventies, but sadly they divorced after five years together.

In 1990, she married entertainment lawyer Peter Lopez, and they had two daughters, Sophia and Laura. Sadly, her husband passed away in 2010 at the age of 60 in what appeared to be a suicide.
