Melissa Suffield shared openly on Instagram Wednesday that she’s been having a difficult time with her mental health.
The actress who played Lucy Beale on the BBC’s EastEnders for six years, until 2010, has revealed she’s been living with overwhelming and persistent fear.
Sharing a photo of her son River, she admitted she’s been struggling with her mental health lately.
I’ve been increasingly overwhelmed with worries and a persistent sense of fear that I didn’t experience before.
I really need to resolve this, as it’s starting to frustrate me. I’m always honest, even when things aren’t going well.
‘I’m fine, but also just very stressed and overwhelmed a lot of the time and it’s not like me.

I took River to see Back to the Future at the movies today on his day off, which was really fun. It’s one of my favorite films, and I enjoyed sharing it with him. I also picked up a delightfully over-the-top Christmas wreath for the front door.
‘I also booked a really exciting thing for next year.’
Melissa recently consulted a specialist to address ongoing back and hip pain and improve her physical well-being.
The actress, who had her son River in March 2020, has been experiencing pain after childbirth ever since.
Last month, she shared a video on Instagram showing her visit to CiONE Wellness Centre on Harley Street in London, where she’s receiving treatment to address some health concerns.
In a recent post, Melissa shared that she’s getting custom insoles for her shoes to improve her posture.
The TV personality is famous for promoting body positivity and frequently uses her influence to highlight realistic beauty standards.
She described having ongoing pain in her back and hips, explaining that certain areas of her spine were misaligned. She believes the plates will provide support and stability to those areas.

She explained that her body has adapted, changing the way she walks and moves to minimize pain.
Honestly, all this has done is made things even messier. Now we’ve got a ton of cleanup to do, and it feels like we need to start right from the very beginning, rebuilding from the ground up.
Melissa explained in her post that mothers often don’t receive enough support when they’re struggling, and there’s an expectation they should just cope on their own. She admitted she’d been doing that for years, but realized it’s not healthy or acceptable.
Finding out I’m hypermobile and seeing specialists like Tim has been incredibly helpful. For the first time, I’m starting to believe I might be able to wake up feeling flexible and pain-free.
I’m planning to follow up with a check-up in a few weeks to see how things are going. If you’re interested, I can share more about my recovery process, including some of the unusual treatments I’m receiving. Just let me know if you have any questions!
Melissa recently shared a health update, revealing she feels like her ongoing illness is a cruel irony. Despite actively trying to improve her health, she says she’s actually feeling worse.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE what’s been going on with him! He was feeling sick to his stomach for months and doctors just couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Turns out, he has this thing called SIBO – small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. I’ve been following his story so closely, and it’s just awful to see him struggle like this, but at least they finally know what it is!
She confessed she wasn’t feeling very Christmassy this year and sadly won’t be able to enjoy a Christmas dinner.
Melissa told The Sun that she prepared a full Christmas dinner last year but didn’t eat a bite. She explained that she gets most of the enjoyment out of the food itself, and because of that, she’s not feeling very Christmassy this year.
She shared that she felt healthier than ever this year because she’d committed to drinking only water and cooking all her own meals.
Despite trying to help, she said she felt worse than ever and described the situation as very discouraging.
Melissa shared that despite being the healthiest she’s ever been – focusing on good sleep and taking lots of vitamins and minerals – she’s actually been getting sick more often this year.
I haven’t touched alcohol, and honestly, it’s ironic considering my health. I appear healthy when you look at the numbers, but I feel terrible. It’s a really discouraging situation, to be honest.
