It’s become a bit predictable that Now You See Me films feature a fantastic cast. The first movie already had huge names like Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine alongside stars like Jesse Eisenberg and Mark Ruffalo. But the strategy still works – the cast of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t proves that by combining established legends with exciting new talent. I was curious what it was like for these up-and-coming actors to meet someone like Morgan Freeman, and their reactions were exactly what I’d expect.
Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, and Dominic Sessa are the new magicians in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. While all three are talented young actors, I was curious about their experience meeting Morgan Freeman and watching him portray Thaddeus Bradley. When I shared with them that I applauded Freeman’s first appearance on screen, Greenblatt revealed their initial reaction to meeting him in person was much the same. She went on to explain:
Everyone was really excited and surprisingly well-behaved – better than at any other point during filming. Whenever he was around, we all made a real effort to be on our best behavior, being both respectful of his time and eager to ask him lots of questions.
Considering Morgan Freeman’s incredible filmography, it’s easy to understand why meeting him feels like a special occasion. He’s a true legend with a famously recognizable voice, and he’s been captivating audiences for over fifty years.
When Morgan Freeman—the famous actor from The Shawshank Redemption—is around, it’s natural to be on your best behavior and show him respect. Actress Judith Light (who plays June) and Dominic Sessa (Bosco) discussed how people became visibly emotional when Freeman filmed his scenes for the movie, which is scheduled to be released in 2025. They shared that:
- Dominic Sessa: I think I cried, like, three times.
- Ariana Greenblatt: No, honestly.
- Dominic Sessa: No, that was Ruben [Fleischer].
- Ariana Greenblatt: Ruben was a crier, especially the last day of him on set, everyone got together and took a picture. And Ruben was quite emotional.
It’s sweet that director Ruben Fleischer got emotional when Morgan Freeman was on set – and it’s easy to see why! The cast already includes many big stars, but Morgan Freeman is a true legend.
If I were one of those young performers meeting the star of Se7en, I’d probably react exactly the same way. I’d definitely be crying and completely overwhelmed, just staring at him in awe (it’s funny, he’s admitted to getting star-struck himself, which is hard to imagine!). But after getting over the shock, I’d be determined to do my best work.
The new movie, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, delivers the same enjoyable experience as the previous films, blending familiar faces with a fresh cast. Don’t miss Morgan Freeman, Ariana Greenblatt, Dominic Sessa, and the rest of the team as they attempt another incredible magic-based heist – it hits theaters November 14th!
