The Night Manager’s “deadly” new season shares first look at returning stars Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman

It’s been almost ten years, but a second season of The Night Manager is finally happening! We’ve just gotten our first glimpse of the new series, which continues the story of the popular spy thriller.

In April 2024, the BBC revealed that the show would return for two more seasons, having commissioned both a second and third season.

The BBC and Prime Video have released the first photos from the upcoming series, showing Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman reprising their leading roles.

The latest photos feature stars Hugh Laurie and Kristin Scott Thomas, who play Jonathan Pine and Angela Burr, along with new cast members Camila Morrone and Diego Calva, who will portray Roxana Bolaños and Teddy Dos Santos.

Alongside Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman, familiar faces returning for the next installment include Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, and Michael Nardone. Noah Jupe will also be back as Daniel Roper.

The first season of the show starred Hugh Laurie as Richard Roper, an arms dealer, and was adapted from John le Carré’s 1993 novel. The upcoming season will tell a new story that builds upon the original book.

Jonathan Pine believed he’d left his previous life behind. Now, using the name Alex Goodwin, he works as a minor MI6 officer in London, leading a peaceful and unremarkable life, according to the story’s description.

I remember the moment everything changed – seeing a familiar face from Roper’s old crew just walking around. It instantly sparked something in Pine and led him straight into a really intense, dangerous situation with this new guy, Teddy Dos Santos, who turned out to be a powerful Colombian businessman. It was a total shock!

During his dangerous new mission, Pine encounters Roxana Bolaños, a businesswoman who hesitantly agrees to help him investigate Teddy’s arms dealing in Colombia. Once there, Pine finds himself caught up in a lethal scheme to supply weapons and train a rebel army.

With loyalties shifting and fracturing, Pine is in a desperate race to uncover a plot to bring down a country. Surrounded by betrayal, he needs to figure out who he can trust and how much he’s willing to risk before time runs out.

The second season doesn’t have a release date yet, but we know it will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK. Viewers outside the UK will be able to stream it on Prime Video.

The Night Manager season 2 is yet to receive a release date.
