Taylor Swift song used in White House video a year after Trump declared his ‘hate’ for her

On Monday, President Donald Trump’s campaign jokingly used Taylor Swift‘s songs to tease her, responding to her recent endorsement of Joe Biden.

The White House shared a playful, patriotic video on TikTok using a popular song. They remixed the lyrics of the song, ‘The Fate of Ophelia,’ changing the title in the video’s caption to ‘the fate of America’.

The project pairs lyrics from the 35-year-old pop star, who is a billionaire, with significant moments from the 79-year-old Republican politician’s career, such as his 2023 mugshot taken after he was charged with racketeering.

Taylor Swift’s performance included a visual of Vice President JD Vance immediately after she sang the lyrics ‘your team.’ This was a pointed response to comments Vance made in 2021 where he disparagingly described people without children as being unhappy with their lives.

Taylor Swift surprisingly concluded her 2024 endorsement of Kamala Harris with the unusual sign-off, ‘Childless Cat Lady’.

Five days later, Donald declared ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!’ on his Truth Social account.

Everything shifted on August 26th when the award-winning singer announced she was getting engaged to Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.

‘Well, I wish them a lot of luck,’ Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

He’s a fantastic player and a genuinely good person, and she’s wonderful too. I really hope things go well for both of them.
