Netflix finds success with one of the most beloved heist franchises of all time.

Even though Ocean’s 8 came out over seven years ago, it’s become a popular choice on Netflix in the U.S. Surprisingly, the 2018 film is now among the top 10 movies on the streaming service, currently ranked at number 8.

Following in the style of Steven Soderbergh’s films, Ocean’s 8 featured a star-studded cast including Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Dakota Fanning, Mindy Kaling, and Helena Bonham Carter. The 2018 film was directed by Gary Ross, who also co-wrote the script with Olivia Milch.

The movie Ocean’s 8 follows Debbie Ocean, sister of Danny Ocean, as she assembles a team to pull off a heist at the Met Gala. Critics generally liked the film, giving it a 69% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences were less enthusiastic, with a 47% rating.

Made for $70 million, the movie Ocean’s 8 earned $297.7 million worldwide. Of that, $140.2 million came from theaters in the United States, and $157.5 million came from international sales. Across all the Ocean’s films, the franchise has made over $1.4 billion.

Although the last Ocean’s movie came out over five years ago, the franchise isn’t over yet. An Ocean’s 14 film is now likely to happen. In October 2025, George Clooney told E! News that Warner Bros. had just approved the budget for the next installment.
