King Charles welcomed Sir David Beckham to Windsor Castle on Tuesday morning for a meeting with plenty of potential topics. However, it turned out fashion was the main subject of their conversation, which surprised many.
I was so thrilled to see Sir [Footballer’s Name] receive his knighthood! It was truly deserved, recognizing his incredible twenty-year career on the pitch and all the amazing work he’s done since retiring, especially as an ambassador for UNICEF. He’s been a fantastic role model for so long, and it’s wonderful to see his contributions to both sport and charity officially honored.
Despite the important occasion, the focus quickly shifted to fashion. Charles spoke briefly with Sir David Beckham, 50, who received his knighthood while wearing a custom-made suit designed by his wife, Victoria Beckham.
And why not, you might ask.
Sir David is famous for shaping modern men’s fashion, but Charles often surprisingly appears on ‘best dressed’ lists, including those published by the popular magazine, GQ.
This isn’t the first time Sir Elton John has chosen outfits reminiscent of his iconic stage costumes while dealing with the tricky world of men’s fashion as he gets older.

When asked about what they discussed after the event, the Manchester United and England icon mentioned that the other person complimented his suit.
Sir David revealed that the King, known for his fondness for tweed, unexpectedly influenced the suit’s design. The suit itself was a sophisticated grey wool creation, featuring single-pleated trousers, a tailored jacket, and a unique lapel chain.
Okay, seriously, this man has the best style, hands down. I’ve been copying his outfits for years – it’s embarrassing, but true! And honestly? This whole look? Totally inspired by him. I just had to tell everyone!
My wife made this for me. I showed her some old photos of the person when he was young, dressed in morning suits, and told her that’s what I wanted to wear. She then created it.
Sir David’s outfit closely matched the morning suit Charles wore to an Ascot polo tournament in 1979, even including the smallest details.
The retired soccer player, who turned 50 in May, looked remarkably like Prince Charles in a recent countryside photo taken on his large property in the Cotswolds.
With his favorite Baker Boy cap and a cozy wool sweater and corduroys, Sir David looked exactly like a country gentleman as he rested on a shepherd’s crook.
People who remember further back might recall a photo of Charles wearing a cap and holding a shepherd’s crook in a very similar pose. He struck this pose at a cross country event for the Fernie Hunt team back in 1979.

Whether he meant to or not, the King clearly influenced Sir David’s suit selection at Wimbledon in June.
I spotted her arriving at the AELTC today, and she looked incredible! She was wearing a beautiful cream-colored suit – a really classic, double-breasted style. Honestly, it was so elegant, I’m sure even the King would have loved it if he’d been there.
In 1989, when Sir David was fourteen, the King was seen wearing a strikingly similar suit as he boarded the Royal yacht during a visit to the Western Isles.
Even Sir David’s more relaxed style towards the end of the 2010s seemed to take cues from the Monarch, particularly a tweed coat he wore on the Eurostar to Paris with Victoria in 2018.
The coat, with its broad lapels, large pockets, and length that fell below the knee, strongly resembled one worn by Charles during a royal visit to Carlisle in 1986.

Sir David said on Tuesday that he’s been feeling moved by the upcoming knighthood ever since he was named in the King’s Birthday Honours list earlier this year.
I’ve definitely had a lot of good fortune throughout my career, achieving everything I have. But to be knighted is an honor I never imagined I’d receive – it’s truly beyond anything I expected.
It’s a truly special moment for me, a boy who grew up in east London, specifically Leytonstone, to be here at Windsor Castle and receive an honour from His Majesty The King – an institution that commands so much respect worldwide.
‘This is without doubt my proudest moment.’
