David Beckham showed off his grey hair with a new, shorter haircut when he received his knighthood on Tuesday. He’s been waiting a long time for this honor!
The 50-year-old former footballer, known for his dark hair, showed off a silver look when he was knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle. He decided to stop dyeing his hair for this special occasion.
Recently, at the debut of Victoria’s Netflix documentary, he had noticeably darker and longer hair.
Oh my gosh, David’s had so many iconic looks! I remember being completely obsessed with him back when he was playing – his style was everything! But honestly, I miss the wild days the most. Like, nothing beats that amazing mohawk and when he went totally blonde! Those looks are just…gone now, sadly. It feels like a different era!
The fashion icon recently admitted his biggest hair regret is the cornrows he sported before meeting Nelson Mandela in 2003.
The footballer said he decided to get the new look spontaneously while on vacation in the South of France with his wife, Victoria Beckham, and some friends.

He explained: ‘We were there with family and one of Victoria’s friends who is a hairdresser.
I asked her to style my hair, and she suggested cornrows. I agreed, even though I wasn’t familiar with them. Getting them done hurt a bit, but I ended up really liking the way they looked.
I often get asked if I regret any of my past hairstyles. While I don’t really regret any of them, I do have some slight regrets about the time I wore cornrows.
Okay, so I finally got them installed on Saturday, and then, can you believe it, on Monday I was on a plane to South Africa with the England team! It was insane – a total whirlwind! I still can’t believe it happened so fast.
Meeting Nelson Mandela was an incredible experience, one I’ll never forget. I have a photo of us shaking hands, and honestly, the only thing I sometimes wish I’d done differently is that I had cornrows in my hair at the time! It’s a silly little regret, but it’s the only one I have from that amazing day.
In the Netflix documentary about David Beckham, he explained his famous 2000 haircut wasn’t a bid for attention. He also initially wouldn’t remove his cap when his manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, asked him to.
He said: ‘I never did it to create attention. I’m not that person.’
Sir Alex confessed he was genuinely shocked when David Beckham shaved his head, saying it felt like a family member had passed away. He explained that his phone immediately rang with people expressing their panic and concern.

I was so thrilled to see David knighted on Tuesday! It was wonderful recognition for all his hard work and dedication to public service, and it was lovely to see Sir Mel Stride, the former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, honored right alongside him. Both men truly deserve this!
After the ceremony, Sir David confessed he was deeply moved to receive the honor, and shared that Charles had praised the suit his wife Victoria designed and made for him as a present.
He acknowledged he’s had a fortunate career, achieving a lot through good luck, but said being knighted is an honor he never imagined receiving.
It’s a truly special occasion for me – a boy from east London, born in Leytonstone, to be honored by the King here at Windsor Castle. It’s an incredible feeling, and without a doubt the proudest moment of my life.
Being knighted is a huge and meaningful honor for one of England’s most celebrated football players. After waiting many years, it’s likely a dream come true for Sir David Beckham.
When asked if he had a chance to talk to Charles during the event, Sir David shared that Charles complimented his suit. He explained that Charles is always impeccably dressed and has influenced his style choices for years, including the outfit he wore that day.
My wife created this for me. I showed her some old photos of the person when he was young, dressed in morning suits, and told her that’s what I’d like to wear. She then made it happen.
