Julie Bishop lets loose at the Melbourne Cup as she parties at Mumm Marquee – but her boyfriend Stephen Gray is unimpressed

Julie Bishop enjoyed attending the exclusive Mumm Marquee at the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday.

Julie Bishop, who served as Australia’s Foreign Minister from 2013 to 2018, spoke candidly while seated with her partner, Stephen Gray.

The 69-year-old woman danced freely to the loud music, seemingly without a care in the world.

While Julie was dancing, Stephen wasn’t really focused on the music. He was too busy looking at his phone.

Julie, known for her impeccable style, truly lived up to her reputation in a stunning red dress. The gown featured beautiful floral details and fashionable puffed sleeves.

She added a chunky pearl necklace and smart, beige cap with a bow detail at the back.  

Stephen wore a classic black suit along with a tie and white silk pocket square.  

Since becoming a couple publicly in 2023, Julie and Stephen’s relationship has continued to flourish.

As a lifestyle observer, I’ve been following this couple for a while now! It looks like they’ve been together for over a year. She first started hinting at a relationship on social media back in July 2023, and things clearly blossomed from there.

Last year, they travelled to South Australia for a ‘fabulous Outback adventure’.

Bishop shared a video on Instagram featuring photos and clips from their vacation, and she tagged her partner in the post.

They were also pictured having dinner with friends together in December 2023. 

Not much is known about Gray, but his Facebook profile reveals a picture of him with a cafe racer motorcycle, wearing a black leather jacket.

The Perth man also shared photos of a yellow Ducati bike parked along the harbour.

The announcement of her new relationship comes after her eight-year romance with David Panton, 53, reportedly ended over dinner in Sydney in July 2022.

While working together, Bishop brought Panton to meet influential figures around the globe, including world leaders at the United Nations, British royalty at Buckingham Palace, and Donald Trump at the White House.

They first appeared together in public in 2014 and were photographed at many celebrity gatherings over the years, including the 2018 wedding of Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough.

Sources say Bishop was completely surprised by the sudden end of her relationship.
