Jessie J shared a heartfelt account of her recent fight with cancer while speaking at the Music Industry Trust Awards held at the Grosvenor Hotel on Monday.
The 37-year-old singer had a mastectomy in June as part of her breast cancer treatment, which was detected early. She later let her fans know she would need another surgery.
Jessie told the audience that receiving her diagnosis completely changed her life this year.
I love to joke and have a good laugh, but honestly, isn’t it amazing that we get to create music together?
We share this with everyone, and each of us contributes to keeping things moving forward in our constantly changing world.
We all have personal challenges and experiences that affect us, whether we’re trying to leave them at home or bring them with us to work.

This year has completely transformed how I see life. It’s shifted my priorities, forced me to confront my own mortality, and made me realize I need to fight for what matters. It’s been a truly life-altering experience.
Jessie looked stunning during the show, wearing a glamorous white dress with a flowing, sheer skirt.
The singer of “Bang Bang” seemed cheerful and energetic while performing her popular songs right after Rita Ora finished her performance at the event.
Jessie was upset last week when her second cancer surgery was delayed, even though she had already cancelled her tour to have the operation.
Jessie posted on Instagram to apologize to her fans for canceling her shows. She explained that while she regrets the cancellations, she’s now focusing on finding a positive way forward.
She shared with her fans that she had to postpone a second breast surgery, explaining that it was originally scheduled for two weeks prior.
A week before my scheduled surgery, I met with my surgeon. We talked about the procedure, and it seemed more complicated than he originally thought, so he recommended I see another surgeon. This second surgeon reviewed my case and suggested we could postpone the surgery for a bit.
I had already canceled my tour, so I was understandably upset. However, there wasn’t anything I could do about it, and I received conflicting advice from two different surgeons.

As soon as Jessie heard the news, she instinctively switched into problem-solving mode and started making arrangements, announcing that her US tour would be rescheduled with new dates.
Jessie made a triumphant return to performing live last month, taking the stage on Saturday for the first time after overcoming cancer.
She opened her set at BBC Radio 2 In The Park in Chelmsford, Essex to a loud applause from fans.
She became emotional while speaking to the audience, revealing that she had breast cancer surgery eleven weeks prior, on this very day.
I recently finished a performance where a lot went wrong, and I’m still dealing with the aftermath. Because of that, I’m nowhere near prepared for anything demanding like Babins.
It’s complicated, honestly. My doctors keep telling me to relax. It’s like you can’t really change who you are, even if you try – you can’t take someone from where they’re from and expect them to be different when they come back.
I’m truly thankful to be here. It means the world to me to see so many of you still singing along after all this time.
‘It truly feels like I’m a little kid. Still doing what I love.’
She also shared that today was particularly special because her son was watching her perform live for the very first time.
Two-year-old Sky was spotted backstage wearing earmuffs and waving to his mom, who was performing on stage.

Next, Jessie performed her new song, “Living My Best Life,” sharing that it meant a lot to her personally.
She shared that she was diagnosed with something just two weeks before releasing the song. While others suggested pausing everything, she insisted on continuing, explaining that life doesn’t stop for challenges.
She explained that life is about facing challenges with resilience – weathering the storm while still making progress.
For me, music is incredibly healing. It’s what gets me excited about starting each day and truly enjoying life.
I’m thankful my music can offer support or joy to others, whether they’re having a tough time or a great one.
‘So this song is called Living My Best Life, and that is what I’m doing every single damn day.
‘Cause we never know when our last day will be, so soak this up, hug the people you love hard.’
