James Norton lands next movie role in unique British comedy with Hugh Bonneville

I’m so excited! James Norton is going to be in a new British comedy with Hugh Bonneville! It’s called Dog Person, and get this – it’s Tanya Reynolds from Sex Education‘s first time directing a movie! I can’t wait to see it!

The movie, which has been described as a dark comedy, will feature Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Bonneville, and Edward Norton. Filming is scheduled to start in London and Wales in March 2026.

The film Dog Person centers on a woman in her thirties working as a dental receptionist who is struggling with feeling both overwhelmed and constrained by what’s expected of her (according to Screen Daily).

What to Read Next

After a 33-year-old woman chips a tooth, a simple trip to the dentist unlocks something surprising inside her. This leads her into a strange and captivating fantasy world, a way to cope with the overwhelming pressure to be perfect in today’s society.

Reynolds, who also produced the film, described her first feature as a story about a woman discovering a sexual interest later in life.

Reynolds explained she set out to explore the feeling of wanting to escape from oneself, even temporarily. Her film centers on a woman in her thirties who discovers a surprising sexual interest and how she balances that with the challenges of trying to get pregnant as her fertility declines.

Reynolds believes many viewers will connect with her character, Sally, even during the film’s most unusual moments – like when she’s eating fish off the floor of her dentist’s house.

Producer Vaughan Sivell shared that he found the script hilarious, laughing out loud when he first read it.

“Finding a fresh, unique writer is always thrilling,” Sivell explained. “I started reading it on a flight, and almost immediately knew we needed to turn it into a movie. Soon after, I was actually laughing out loud. Dog Person really gets at the raw, honest truth about what it means to be human – it’s quirky, moving, and perfectly captures the character of Tanya.”

So, I just heard some cool news – Jacob Elordi, who plays Arthur in We’re All Trying to Get Home, is now going to play Brian Epstein, The Beatles’ manager, in a new four-part movie event directed by Sam Mendes. It’s called The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, and I’m already hyped to see him in that role!
