So I was watching the latest episode of Red Table Talk with Joe and Jada, and Common was telling this crazy story about his beef with Ice Cube and Mack 10 back in the mid-90s. Apparently, it all kicked off after he dropped “I Used to Love H.E.R.” – a lot of West Coast artists felt like it was aimed at them. Things escalated quickly, with Ice Cube and Mack 10 responding, and then Common came back with that iconic diss track, “The B*tch in Yoo.” It was a wild time in hip-hop, and it’s still talked about today!
While shooting a commercial in Los Angeles years later, Common unexpectedly found himself dealing with old conflict. He shared that a friend from Chicago brought up past issues they had thought were resolved.
