The cast of Lauren Miller Rogen’s new comedy, Babies, just got a lot stronger! Four popular actors have joined the film, which follows up on her first feature and stars an Emmy-winning actor.
Issa Rae, Dan Stevens, Zach Cherry, and Kate Berlant are the latest actors to join the cast of the upcoming film Babies. While their roles haven’t been revealed, they’ll be appearing alongside Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen, who were previously announced as the leads. Babies follows Annie (Kendrick) and Aaron (Rogen) as they grapple with the decision of having a child, a situation complicated when a recently divorced friend moves in with her four-year-old, leading them to become instant co-parents.
Miller Rogen is directing and wrote the screenplay for a new comedy called Babies. Filming will take place in Los Angeles, with financial support from a California tax credit. This project marks her return to directing after Like Father, a 2018 Netflix film where she also wrote and produced. Like Father is a heartwarming story about a woman, played by Kristen Bell, who unexpectedly connects with her father, played by Kelsey Grammer, during a cruise she was meant to take with her fiancé. In addition to Babies, Miller Rogen is also set to direct the horror comedy Be Mine and the action comedy Sky Dancers.
Seth Rogen Returning to the Big Screen After Massive Emmys Victory
As a big fan of Seth Rogen, I was happy to see him back in a leading comedic role with Babies. He was huge in the 2000s and 2010s with films like Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, This Is the End, and Neighbors – instant classics, honestly. While he’s still taking roles in movies like Dumb Money (2023) and the upcoming Good Fortune (2025), it feels like he’s really found a groove behind the scenes lately. He’s been executive producing and creating some fantastic shows for TV, like Preacher, The Boys, and Invincible, and it’s been great to see his influence there.
Seth Rogen’s newest show, The Studio on Apple TV+, has been his biggest hit so far. He’s involved in every aspect of the satirical comedy, acting, producing, directing, and writing it. Fans can expect a second season soon. He also recently appeared in a memorable cameo, voicing a progressive rabbit alongside Adam Brody’s character, Noah.
