Big comebacks are common in Marvel movies, with actors often returning to familiar roles. This is also true for some stars from the X-Men films, but not everyone is getting a second chance. Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey/Phoenix in four X-Men movies over 14 years, has said she hasn’t been contacted about returning to the role now that Marvel owns the characters.
She firmly stated to Entertainment Weekly that she would ‘never, ever’ revisit the topic. She noted it’s consistently brought up in interviews, which she found surprising, and anticipates it will continue to be a recurring question for the foreseeable future.
It’s humbling to know people still connect with the character after all this time. I expect she’ll be mentioned whenever they make a new movie, like with Avengers: Doomsday.
What to Read Next
Although John Janssen likely won’t be in the next Avengers movie, several actors from the X-Men films will be returning. This includes Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn, all reprising their famous roles.

Notably missing from the extensive list of cast members was Hugh Jackman, who had recently returned as Wolverine in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
Even though critics loved the film and it was a huge box office hit, it’s still uncertain whether Wolverine will appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
Jackman certainly wasn’t letting anything slip when speaking on The View in June.

He chuckled, saying he couldn’t reveal too much, but when a character ‘appears,’ it’s more accurate to say they completely take over and overpower everyone else.
Just joking! I don’t have anything to contribute, and even if I did, I’d probably keep it to myself. But honestly, there’s really nothing more to say.
Okay, so the cast for Avengers: Doomsday is absolutely insane! Besides all the X-Men actors they’ve got lined up, we’re talking Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and even Anthony Mackie! Seriously, it’s a who’s who of awesome, I can’t wait to see them all together.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 18 December, 2026.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can purchase Ariana & Witches at newsagents or online for only £8.99.
