George Clooney gives rare insight into life with wife Amal and their twins – as he details his relationship with his kids, lauds his ‘beautiful’ family and brands himself ‘very lucky’

George Clooney has given a rare insight into his family life.

The 64-year-old actor married human rights lawyer Amal in 2014, and they had twins, Alexander and Ella, in June 2017.

George, currently promoting his new film Jay Kelly, doesn’t often talk about his personal life, but he recently shared a heartwarming update: his twins still enjoy spending time with him, and he feels very grateful.

In an interview with the Express, he shared how grateful he is for his life, saying he feels happy going to work each day and returning to his wonderful family. He believes it’s important to appreciate these simple joys.

George was talking about how different he is from his character in the movie ‘Jay Kelly,’ where he acts alongside his friend Adam Sandler. He explained that he doesn’t connect with the character because he doesn’t share the same feelings of regret.

Amal, a British-Lebanese lawyer, and George Clooney got engaged in April 2014 and married later that year. They then welcomed twins into their family three years afterward.

Although they generally keep their family life private, George has recently shared in interviews that he’s content with how things are going.

Okay, so he basically said he totally doesn’t get this character, and honestly, good for him! He was like, ‘I just don’t have that kind of regret in my life.’ It’s because his life is so different – he actually has a good relationship with everyone he works with, which is amazing, and his kids like him! Can you believe it? It’s just… so different from the character’s situation, and he just couldn’t connect with it because of that. It’s almost a relief to hear him say that, you know? Like, he’s living the dream!

‘I mean, they’re eight. They could change. But at this point they still like me.’

He said with a smile that he has no complaints about fame and is completely content with his life.

In the film Jay Kelly, George plays a movie star who consistently portrays himself, and Adam plays the star’s manager.

The film boasts a remarkable cast, including Oscar winners Laura Dern and Jim Broadbent, alongside Isla Fisher, Billy Crudup, and Greta Gerwig, who recently directed the hit movie Barbie.

Throughout their fast-paced European adventure, George’s character repeatedly tells himself he’s ‘Jay Kelly,’ suggesting he’s become disillusioned with the excitement of the entertainment industry.

Noah Baumbach directed the movie, and he co-wrote the screenplay with British actress Emily Mortimer. The film has already won a Composer Award at the Montclair Film Festival.

The movie follows two longtime friends as they reconnect for a wild weekend getaway. Through a series of funny and touching experiences, they’re reminded of their younger days and ultimately learn to embrace adulthood.

George has enjoyed a remarkable 40-year career, highlighted by an Academy Award win for his performance in Syriana, and many other awards.

In a recent interview with Variety, George Clooney reacted strongly to questions about whether he’s limited in his acting roles. When asked if people think he simply plays variations of himself, Clooney responded with frustration, saying he doesn’t care what others think.

He continued, explaining that few actors his age get to move between lighthearted comedies, like ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’, and serious dramas such as ‘Michael Clayton’ or ‘Syriana’. He doesn’t mind if this means he often plays characters very similar to himself.

Referencing a line from his new role, Jay Kelly shared a relatable thought: ‘It’s surprisingly difficult to just be yourself.’

The actor explained that while he’s had a good career, it hasn’t exploded in many different ways, and he actually sees that as a positive thing.

I didn’t achieve significant success – the kind that really changes things – until I was 33, when I started working on ER. By that time, I’d already been working for twelve years.

I suddenly realized how quickly everything passes and how much of it is actually beyond your control.
