KPop Demon Hunters Sequel: Star Rei Ami Addresses Netflix Rumors

The most popular movie on Netflix right now, KPop Demon Hunters, is a huge hit, and its star, Rei Ami (who plays Zoey), has spoken about the possibility of a follow-up movie.

At Heidi Klum’s Halloween party, Ami, the actress who plays Zoey in KPop Demon Hunters, told E! News she’s hoping for a sequel. The Korean-American rapper said she’s “waiting for the call” and promised fans will find out about any updates at the same time she does.

In KPop Demon Hunters, a wildly popular K-pop girl group finds themselves battling a rival boy band—who happen to be demons—to safeguard a magical artifact and prevent a demonic takeover of the world. The series features the voices of Arden Cho as Rumi, May Hong as Mira, Ken Jeong as Bobby, and Ahn Hyo-seop as Ji-noo.

Ami shared that she’s still adjusting to how incredibly popular the movie has become. She described it as a true cultural moment, pointing to the record-breaking numbers and constant media attention as something she’s never seen before. She expressed feeling honored, amazed, and deeply humbled by the ability of music and art to make a real difference in the world – something she admits sounds like a cliché, but feels genuinely true.

Currently, KPop Demon Hunters is the most popular movie ever on Netflix, thanks to its viral spread and incredibly successful soundtrack, which has several songs charting on Billboard. The movie also had a limited run in theaters, earning $19.2 million.

Following the film’s success around the world, people have been talking about a possible sequel, but plans haven’t been finalized yet. Producer Michelle Wong mentioned a follow-up to KPop Demon Hunters, saying, “Everyone is exhausted [laughs], but we’re enthusiastic about what comes next.”

Maggie Kang, the creator and co-director, responded to questions about a potential sequel, stating that while nothing is confirmed, they see a lot of possibilities for continuing the story and its characters. She emphasized that any future installment would need to be a compelling story that both the creators and the audience would enjoy.

I’m still buzzing about KPop Demon Hunters! It absolutely blew up when it came out in June 2025, racking up an incredible 325 million views in just three months. And the critics loved it too – it’s sitting pretty at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Honestly, everyone I know is already clamoring for a sequel, and I really hope the filmmakers deliver!
