Casey Donovan reveals baby plans and fertility battle with fiancée Renee Sharples ahead of their wedding

Casey Donovan has revealed that she and her fiancée Renee Sharples are planning to start a family.

Casey Donovan, 37, and her partner, 40, are trying to have a baby through IVF, and Casey recently had eggs retrieved as part of the process.

Casey told news.com.au on Sunday that Renee, who is over 40, has recently completed medical check-ups and follow-up care.

‘And then I was like, well, I need to find some time to get mine out.’

Honestly, it’s something I’ve always dreamed of doing, and I’m finally making it happen! I mean, the doctors keep reminding me I’m not getting any younger, so I figured now or never! It’s been on my mind forever, and I’m just starting to put all the pieces in motion. I can’t believe it’s actually happening!

Casey has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition that can make it harder to get pregnant, and this was another reason she decided to have her eggs retrieved.

Let me tell you, life on tour can be challenging! As someone who’s seen it all, I know firsthand that even for incredibly talented performers like Marcia, navigating a summer tour isn’t always easy. It takes a lot of energy and resilience, and she’s definitely been putting in the work on the Marcia Sings Summer tour.

She explained that getting 26 eggs in the first round and 28 in the second was physically demanding, saying, ‘It’s a lot for your body to go through and recover from.’

Casey announced her engagement to her long-time partner in June last year.

The theatre star proudly displayed her large diamond ring while embracing her girlfriend, sharing the sweet moment Renee proposed.

Casey shared that on June 21st, under the glow of the strawberry moon coinciding with the winter solstice, her partner proposed, asking her to spend the rest of their lives together.

I’ll never forget the moment I met you. Suddenly, ‘home’ wasn’t a building or a location anymore – it was you. I know you live a free-spirited life, a bit of a wanderer, but honestly, I couldn’t imagine sharing this incredible journey of life with anyone else. That’s when I knew, and I happily said yes!

Earlier this year, Casey shared an update on her wedding plans during an interview on The Project.

She wondered if they were on the verge of something significant, or if it was just a minor development, saying, “Are we onto something big, or is it small?”

She turned to her fiancé, speaking to the camera, and said, ‘Should we just elope and celebrate afterward? I haven’t told Renee yet, and I’m really sorry about that.’

Casey and Renee connected on the Bumble dating app and started dating virtually via Zoom during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. Renee works as a paramedicine lecturer.

Oh my gosh, when Casey finally got to talk to Renee, he was practically buzzing with nerves and excitement! He told Woman’s Day that she was amazing – so witty and just genuinely lovely. Seriously, everything he said just confirmed she’s as incredible as I always knew!

It was really thoughtful of Renee to have our first Zoom date set up like a café—it felt so cozy! And it was even sweeter when she asked me what coffee I’d like, like a real date.

Renee said she knew Casey from Australian Idol, but didn’t have any prior opinions about her personality.

We never anticipated this, it really came as a surprise! But we’re enjoying life together so much, and I couldn’t be more content,” she shared.
