James Gunn, the head of DC Studios, recently pointed out a mistake in a social media post about Sabrina Carpenter’s Wonder Woman costume. Gunn is well-known for openly discussing details about his own projects and those of others, and he’s often corrected errors he’s spotted in the superhero genre. This Halloween season, in 2025, he found another mistake online that he couldn’t believe.
Sabrina Carpenter, the Grammy-winning singer, celebrated Halloween with a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 31, 2025. She dressed up as Wonder Woman for the performance. Variety filmed her singing her popular song “Manchild” while in costume and shared the video on Threads with the caption: #SabrinaCarpenter sings ‘Manchild’ while dressed as Superwoman in NYC.
Okay, so this news site mistakenly said James Gunn dressed as Superwoman instead of Wonder Woman! When I read that, I immediately pictured Gunn reacting exactly how he did – he just exclaimed “Superwoman?!” like, ‘Seriously?!’ It was a funny little moment showing he definitely knows his DC heroes.
Carpenter shared a photo of her costume on Instagram, expressing gratitude to fans for their support at her recent New York City concert. She wore a bodysuit, as she often does during performances, but this one was inspired by the classic Wonder Woman outfit worn by Lynda Carter in her 1970s television show, and she even included a gold tiara.

Carpenter finished her outfit with a few sparkly accessories: a short, decorated cord around her waist that looked like Wonder Woman’s lasso, and matching glittering gauntlets on her wrists.

I was so excited to see all the photos from the show! She even took pictures with her amazing dancers, and they were dressed up as iconic characters – Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Beatrix Kiddo from Kill Bill, and even Michael Jackson from his legendary “Thriller” video! It was such a creative and fun touch.

I’m so excited about what James Gunn is planning for Wonder Woman! He’s actually working on a Wonder Woman movie as part of the new DC Universe he’s building at DC Studios. Plus, he’s also developing a show for HBO Max called Paradise Lost that’s going to delve into the fascinating world of Themyscira, Wonder Woman’s home, and show us all about its culture and politics. Unfortunately, we don’t have any idea when we’ll actually get to see either of these projects yet, but I’m already counting down the days!
Sabrina Carpenter’s Superhero Future & James Gunn’s Wonder Woman Plans

Sabrina Carpenter is now a popular singer-songwriter, but she started out acting in shows like Girl Meets World and Milo Murphy’s Law. She’s also been considered for parts in a couple of Marvel superhero movies.
In June 2025, a source reported that Marvel is considering Jenna Carpenter for the role of the mutant Dazzler in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though singer Taylor Swift, a friend of Carpenter’s, was previously considered for the part in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film, that didn’t happen. Despite being only five feet tall, Carpenter is a strong singer and generally fits the image of Dazzler. Casting someone as well-known as her in the MCU’s X-Men lineup would be a major win for Marvel.
During a WIRED interview where Google asked her questions, actress Hailee Steinfeld discussed the possibility of playing Spider-Gwen (Gwen Stacy) for Marvel. She didn’t confirm or deny the rumor, but explained she gets very anxious whenever Marvel is mentioned. She avoids saying anything that could hint at future involvement, even if she isn’t actually working with them.
Wow, that’s hilarious! Honestly, whenever Marvel comes up in conversation, I get instantly anxious, even when I’m not actively involved with them. Just the possibility of working with them makes me worried about accidentally revealing something I shouldn’t.
James Gunn announced in June that he’s working on a new Wonder Woman movie for the DC Universe (DCU), marking the first since Gal Gadot starred in two standalone Wonder Woman films in the previous DC Extended Universe. Details about the plot are still under wraps, and casting news isn’t expected anytime soon.
According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, the upcoming Wonder Woman movie will likely be more upbeat and fun than Gal Gadot’s previous DC films. DC executives are hoping to find an actress who can portray a brighter, more playful version of the superhero, similar to how James Gunn revitalized Superman with David Corenswet. This approach is intended to give the character of Diana Prince a fresh start.
Though Cailee Spaeny probably won’t be cast as Wonder Woman in the DC Universe, both she and Florence Pugh are poised to become major stars in the world of superhero films.
