A popular and versatile actress from the 1980s made a rare public appearance on Wednesday, exciting her fans.
The 79-year-old actress, best known for playing Fatima Blush in the 1983 James Bond film Never Say Never Again alongside Sean Connery, was recently seen looking stylish in Beverly Hills.
The Nicaraguan-American actress and model, known for her role as the villainous Angelica Nero on the classic soap opera Dallas, looked very different from her on-screen persona. She was wearing a red sweater, black jacket, and long skirt – a far cry from the revealing outfits her character often sported.
She was a well-established actress who had already appeared in films alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, such as Rock Hudson (in Embryo), Paul Newman (in When Time Ran Out), Burt Lancaster (in The Island of Dr. Moreau, 1977), and Oliver Reed (in Condorman).
As a lifestyle expert, I always find fascinating stories behind famous faces! Many of you might recall this stunning woman – she wasn’t just a beauty, she captivated royalty! After her third marriage, she had a romance with a very eligible bachelor – none other than Henry Percy, the 11th Duke of Northumberland, who also happens to be Queen Elizabeth’s godson. It’s a tale of glamour and a truly captivating love life!
Can you guess the star?

If you said Barbara Carrera, you’re right!
Carrera’s career proved she was far more than a Bond girl.
After Never Say Never Again, she refused to be typecast as the stereotypical femme fatale.
She explained to The New York Times that while people did attempt to find work for her, all the roles she was offered were for villainous or unlikeable characters. She emphasized this by repeating, ‘bad women, bad women.’
I consistently refused those offers. It wasn’t always the best choice, though, as a few of them were actually excellent opportunities.
Rather than sticking to one type of role, she built a varied career, famously appearing in 25 episodes of the hugely popular TV show Dallas.
Originally from Nicaragua, she started her modeling career at age 17 with the well-known Eileen Ford agency. She chose to use her mother’s family name, Carrera, for her professional work.
She first appeared on screen in a brief role as herself in the 1970 film Puzzle of a Downfall Child, and in 1972, she did promotional work for Chiquita Bananas.

She quickly became a popular model, appearing in major magazines like Vogue, Paris Match, and Harper’s Bazaar, and even graced the cover of Playboy twice – in July 1977 and March 1982.
She first received a Golden Globe nomination in 1976 for her role in The Master Gunfighter, earning recognition as New Star of the Year – Actress. She was nominated again in 1983 for her memorable performance as the villain Fatima Blush in Never Say Never Again, where she starred alongside Sean Connery.
On television, Carrera proved just as formidable.
She acted in large-scale television productions like the 1978 series Centennial and Masada (1981), where she starred alongside Peter O’Toole. She also played Emma Eliza Cole in the 1988 series Emma: Queen of the South Seas.
In 1989, Carrera appeared alongside Bette Davis in her last film, Wicked Stepmother. They played witches who were mother and daughter, and in a memorable scene, Davis even used special effects to appear as Carrera’s younger self.
She later appeared in a playful nod to her Bond Girl legacy on That ’70s Show in 2000.
In addition to her acting career, Carrera is a talented painter. Her artwork has been exhibited at galleries in Beverly Hills and London, as well as the Hollywood Entertainment Museum, and has sold for as much as $12,000.
In 1997, she was appointed as Nicaragua’s Ambassador-at-Large and received a diplomatic passport from President Arnoldo Alemán.

Her personal life has been equally headline-grabbing.
Carrera has gone through three marriages: to Kurt von Hoffman, German model and actor Uwe Harden, and shipping tycoon Nicholas Mark Mavroleon. She’s also been linked romantically to several famous men, including Robert Evans, Richard Gere, Timothy Dalton, and Ryan O’Neal.
She had a significant relationship with journalist Cameron Docherty, and later became romantically involved with Henry Percy, the 11th Duke of Northumberland, who was also a godson of Queen Elizabeth II.
Even at 79, Carrera remains strikingly beautiful and memorable. She’s a classic star from the 1980s who has successfully navigated a diverse career – from acting in James Bond films and playing TV villains, to pursuing painting and even serving as a diplomat – all without falling into the common traps of Hollywood stardom.
