Fans hoping to see Catherine Tate, known for her role in Doctor Who, compete on Strictly Come Dancing will likely be disappointed. The actress jokingly said she would only consider the show if a specific condition was met. She made the comment while appearing on The One Show with judge Craig Revel Horwood, after being asked by hosts Clara Amfo and JB Gill.
There would be so many fun entertainment options! Imagine her performing as her various sketch comedy characters. Could we see the famous Nan doing a Paso Doble, or teenage Lauren attempting a Rumba?
Unfortunately, she won’t be able to. Although she’d really like to learn to dance, she has one major obstacle preventing her.

She said she’d jump at the chance to be on Strictly Come Dancing, but only if they’d stop filming her. “I would go on in a heartbeat,” she explained, “but I’d ask them to turn the cameras off.”
Everyone around her was laughing, and she jokingly said, “I’d love to take dance lessons, but definitely not with the whole country watching!”

After Revel Horwood wondered if performing in this year’s pantomime – at London’s famous Palladium, no less – might change her mind about something, she playfully replied, “Maybe!”
Elsewhere on the show, Revel Horwood was asked which contestants are standing out to him this year.
“I think Alex [Kingston] is great, not only as an actress but as a fabulous dancer,” he said.
“Amber [Davies] is a brilliant dancer and I don’t know why she’s ending up in the bottom as well.
It’s just as important to connect with your audience as it is to master the technical aspects of what you’re doing.

You know, Kéllé Bryan asked if maybe this contestant’s dance background was hurting her chances with the votes, and the judge actually said he didn’t think so! He pointed out that Jill Halfpenny, who won the show way back in series two, also had a dance background, so it clearly wasn’t a problem then.
Alesha Dixon experienced a surprising journey on the show. Despite being in the bottom three at one point, she not only won but also later became a judge! I think a big part of succeeding is connecting with the audience, and she’s a truly talented dancer.
This week on Strictly Come Dancing, it’s the annual Halloween special, and the songs and dances the couples will be performing have now been announced.
Also, the future of Tate’s previous show, Doctor Who, is set – a Christmas special is planned.
The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
You can watch Strictly Come Dancing on Saturdays on BBC One, and Strictly: It Takes Two airs weeknights on BBC Two. Both programs are also available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
