The next Marvel Avengers movie, titled Doomsday, is scheduled for release in U.S. theaters next December. The film is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and Robert Downey Jr. will star as the villain Doctor Doom.

Rumors suggest the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will play before the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19, 2025. Although Marvel Studios hasn’t officially confirmed this, new information has surfaced detailing what fans might see in the Doomsday trailer.

Film Threat’s Chris Gore says the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday trailer will feature a lot of exciting footage of Doctor Doom in action, though he can’t reveal specific details.

Gore explained that viewers will get a full look at Doctor Doom, not just a brief one. He described the character, as envisioned by Downey, as a classic Universal monster – similar to Lon Chaney’s Phantom of the Opera – a tragic and broken figure. Unlike Iron Man, who used his armor as a superpower, Doom needs the armor to function because he’s physically scarred and broken. Someone else described it this way, and Gore agreed with the interpretation. Beyond his scientific skills, Doom also wields magic, adding another layer to his power.

Right now, this is just speculation, and shouldn’t be taken as fact. Official details about the plot of Avengers: Doomsday haven’t been released yet.

The next Avengers movie, Doomsday, is scheduled to come out in US cinemas on December 18, 2026, as part of the sixth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Secret Wars, another Avengers film, will be released a year later on December 17, 2027.
