The family of Floyd Roger Myers Jr., who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 42, is committed to ensuring his legacy continues for many years.

Following the death of the former star of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air from a heart attack at his Maryland home, his mother, Renee Trice, told TMZ that his ex-wife and children will take over the business he built after leaving Hollywood.

Myers was most proud of the family he created, but he also deeply enjoyed running his air duct cleaning business, Dr. Duct.

The actor’s mother shared that his children were happy to continue his work, explaining that his company was incredibly important to him and now holds the same significance for them.

Myers often shared photos of his children on social media. In one post from 2023, he wrote a happy caption alongside a family picture: ‘So much has changed, but family is still what matters most! – MyersGang.’

Tia Myers, known for portraying a younger version of Will Smith’s character on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, didn’t have a long career in television.

In 1992, alongside his appearance on Smith’s show, he also portrayed a young Marlon Jackson in the miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream.

His final credit was eight years later in 2000 with a part on the series Young Americans.

His mother said Myers stopped pursuing a Hollywood career when he was 19. He then focused on his studies at Clark University in Atlanta, earning a golf scholarship to help pay for it.

Following graduation, Myers spent ten years working for an appliance manufacturer. He then decided to start his own business – an air duct cleaning service – which his family will now carry on after his passing.

Trice shared that her son’s body was taken to a funeral home in Maryland on Thursday. 

She said a church service will be held to honor Myers before he is cremated, as that was what he wanted.

According to his mother’s statement to TMZ, Myers had actually experienced four heart attacks in the last three years, with the most recent one proving fatal.

Trice added that she had just spoken to her son just the night before his sudden death.

After 2000, Floyd’s acting career slowed down, but he remained active, co-founding the Fellaship Mens Group, according to his Instagram profile.

Fellaship was created to help men with their emotional and mental wellbeing, issues that are often ignored. The organization provides a supportive and non-judgmental environment where men can feel comfortable sharing and being themselves, as stated on their website.

The late star would often post about the program and its events to his main Instagram page.

Floyd was also candid about his health battles and revealed in 2023 that he had been in a coma. 

The actor shared a photo from his hospital bed, explaining in the caption that he’d been in a coma and fighting for his life just a week earlier.

‘The way my GOD work though. I’m beyond blessed and grateful to be alive !!’ he added. 

Fans jumped over to X to mourn the loss upon learning of Floyd’s passing on Wednesday. 

People expressed their sadness at the news, with one person writing, “It’s so sad – he was so young and seemed to have so much life left to live.” Another wrote, “Forty-two is far too young… sending my condolences to his family and fans.”

A fan jokingly mourned the loss of the younger version of Will Smith, referencing his character in ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.’

An X user added, ‘So young Rest in peace legend,’ and one shared, ‘May his soul rest in peace.’ 

That’s incredibly sad news. Losing someone so young, at only 42, is truly shocking. My heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and to everyone who enjoyed his work over the years.

People expressed their shock and sadness online. One person wrote, “I’m heartbroken. What happened?” and another shared, “He died too young. Rest in peace, Floyd Roger Myers Jr.”
