A lot of millennials, including me, grew up watching Demi Lovato since her days on Disney Channel. We’ve followed her career as she moved beyond Disney, and even witnessed internet moments like the early days of the ‘Poot’ meme. But she still manages to surprise us – her recent Halloween costume as the famous fictional twin sister from Tumblr is amazing!
Let’s quickly cover the story behind what’s become one of the most famous Halloween costumes in recent years. Back in the mid-2010s, a fan took a photo of the singer – who’s known for her song “Heart Attack” – when she had very short hair. The photo, which was brightly lit, spread online, but it really gained traction when someone enlarged and edited it, then shared it on Tumblr with a made-up story.

I can’t stop looking at this! It’s definitely a highlight of Halloween 2025 – right up there with the adorable dog dressed as Taylor Swift’s ring and Reese Witherspoon’s festive spirit. I’m thrilled to see her fully embrace the ‘Miss Poot Lovato’ character. The entire post is amazing, but her commitment to the backstory is truly exceptional.
Memes have a surprising ability to transform how we see things, and the story of “Poot Lovato” is a perfect example. At first, the actress, who started her career with Disney, was upset by the meme because she thought it was a real, unedited photo of her. But she’s since come to terms with it and even embraces it, which her fans are thrilled about. We can all enjoy this iconic piece of 2010s internet culture!

2025 has already been a big year for Demi Lovato online, and that’s before even mentioning her new album, It’s Not That Deep, which came out on October 24th. It started with her performance of “This is Me” at Disneyland, followed by the exciting news that Camp Rock 3 is happening – probably in 2026. But honestly, her recent Poot Lovato costume is the highlight for me.
It’s great to see Millennials and Demi Lovato fans (or both!) celebrating her return to Tumblr. While I wasn’t anticipating diving back into the ‘Poot Lovato’ side of things for Halloween, I’m enjoying it nonetheless.
