Mutya Buena’s changing face: Sugababes star’s transformation over the years as she shows off a striking look at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards

Mutya Buena, of the Sugababes, turned heads with her outfit at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards on Thursday evening.

The 40-year-old singer showed off her tattoos and bright red hair while walking the red carpet with her former bandmates, Siobhán Donaghy and Keisha Buchanan, who are both 41.

The group gave a memorable performance at the awards ceremony, which took place at 180 The Strand. They were also honored with an award that evening.

Her current look is a far cry from her fresh-faced appearance when she first shot to fame in 2000.

Mutya, a public figure for twenty years, has changed dramatically, especially considering she previously admitted to struggling with feelings of being unattractive and overweight.

Mutya is known for her many tattoos, and she’s previously discussed getting breast and butt implants.

Mutya spent £5,000 on the procedure and explained to heat! magazine in 2010 that she’d done some research beforehand. She’d noticed it was popular in the US and Brazil and simply wanted a more lifted look.

Okay, so, I finally did it! I got breast implants, and now I’m an E-cup! Honestly, the pain was intense right after the surgery. Like, seriously, it hurt so bad. And you know what? I love how they look, but I don’t think I could ever go through that pain again. Absolutely not. Never again!

Years later, Mutya had her breast implants removed and said it was her ‘best decision ever’.

She explained that she spent one night in the hospital and then the procedure was complete. While it was somewhat painful, she didn’t mind too much because it didn’t compare to the pain she felt during her first breast augmentation. She believes getting a breast reduction was the best decision she’s ever made.

I’d been wanting to remove my implants for a long time, and now that they’re gone, I feel so much lighter, both physically and emotionally.

Mutya shared photos on Instagram of herself getting lip fillers at Binsina Laser Clinic, and previously discussed having the procedure done.

The Sugababes were deeply moved when Ashley Roberts gave them their award, noting they had persevered in a tough industry that often discards people.

Siobhan Donaghy started by saying how touched she was, and expressed her gratitude at being named Women Of The Year, calling it a real honor.

Over the past year, I learned that true strength isn’t about being forceful, and real unity doesn’t require everyone to agree on everything.

Working as an independent artist means it’s hard to truly disconnect, but we’ve discovered how to appreciate the energy and excitement that comes with it.

Keisha Buchanan shared that this feels like a truly blessed moment, explaining that her faith helped her persevere through difficult times when she could have easily given up.

Early on, it was unusual to see women in this industry who represented our diverse backgrounds – Filipino, Irish, Jamaican, and so many others, each with our own unique experiences. Standing here today as successful businesswomen, we’re building something bigger than just a career – we’re creating a lasting legacy.

Sisterhood means supporting each other, especially when things are difficult, and celebrating each other’s successes as if they were our own.

Society sometimes implies that women have a limited time to be their best, but we believe your value doesn’t diminish with age – you simply discover new ways to thrive and radiate confidence.

Mutya left the group in December 2005, when they were at their most popular, just a few months after her daughter, Tahlia-May, was born.

She was replaced by Amelle Berrabah and the group carried on before eventually splitting in 2009. 

Mutya, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhan Donaghy—the original members of the group—later reunited and began performing and recording music again.
