He is the frontman of one of the most iconic bands in the world.
For over forty years, this rock star’s band has been amazing fans and has sold an impressive 150 million albums around the world.
As the singer and leader of this famous band, he helped invent the genre of thrash metal.
The band achieved a remarkable milestone: they were the first ever to play concerts on all seven continents, finishing this incredible journey with a performance in Antarctica in 2013.
Even at 62, he still has incredible energy and stage presence – something Australian audiences will experience firsthand when his band begins its tour this week.
But do you know who it is? It’s none other than Metallica frontman James Hetfield.

The famous metal singer looked happy and relaxed this week while enjoying some free time before Metallica’s Australian tour begins in Perth.
A thrilled fan posted a picture of Metallica’s James Hetfield on the band’s M72 World Tour Facebook page on Thursday.
He was seen getting on a ferry to Rottnest Island, likely hoping to see the quokkas – the island’s adorable and famous residents.
James was thrilled to have a relaxing moment before the show, smiling brightly as he waited for the ferry.
He was wearing a black hoodie with the band Black Sabbath on it. He’d bought it at a recent concert in Birmingham where Metallica honored the classic British metal band.
To complete his low-profile look, he added a black and white trucker hat and dark aviator sunglasses.
The post quickly received a lot of comments from passionate Metallica fans who were excited about the chance to connect with the legendary musician.
People online were amused to see the lead singer of a legendary and hugely popular band simply riding a ferry in Washington state. One fan playfully commented, ‘James Hetfield, looking good!’

‘The Legend himself has arrived on our shores. I’m excited,’ a second gushed.
A third was quite taken with James’ decidedly un-rock-star-like mode of transport.
‘No helicopters or big private boats for these boys… on the ferry. Love it.’
Metallica are in Perth to perform at the Optus Stadium on November 1.
Following that, the tour will stop in Adelaide with a show at Adelaide Oval on November 5th, before heading to Melbourne for a concert at Marvel Stadium on November 8th.
The band will finish their Australian tour with concerts in Brisbane on November 12th and in Sydney on November 15th.
The band announced their Australian tour last year, and it’s their first time playing there in over a decade.
Metallica hasn’t toured Australia since 2013, when they played at the Soundwave festival alongside Linkin Park and Blink-182.

This comes after James cancelled a stadium tour in Australia in 2020 and completed treatment for addiction.
A statement released at the time said that our brother James has battled addiction for several years.
‘He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.
We’re hoping to visit you as soon as we’re able to travel and things settle down. We’ll be in touch with more details when we have them.
