Taylor Sheridan Is Officially Tackling the Most Popular Action Video Game Franchise of All Time

Taylor Sheridan, the creator of Yellowstone and many other shows for Paramount+, is reportedly working on a film based on a hugely popular video game franchise before potentially moving to a different studio. This movie could be his biggest success yet, and is expected to draw major stars from Hollywood.

According to Deadline, Taylor Sheridan will co-write the upcoming Call of Duty movie with director Peter Berg. The two have a long-standing friendship and have previously worked together on films like Hell or High Water and Wind River. Sheridan, known for creating successful shows for Paramount, is returning to the style of filmmaking seen in Sicario with this project, which is expected to be his most significant film yet. While no actors have been confirmed, it’s likely that a major cast will be assembled for the highly anticipated adaptation.

Many fans hoped Steven Spielberg would direct the movie adaptation of Call of Duty, as he’s a known fan of the game. However, Peter Berg is still an excellent choice. He’s directed several intense action films, including Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriots Day. More recently, he created the dark western thriller American Primeval for Netflix, which premiered in January 2025. Berg’s realistic and impactful directing style should be a great fit for Call of Duty, particularly with a script co-written by Sheridan.
