Geordie Shore’s Holly Hagan shares ‘sign’ from her late sister Darci, 19, as she returns to social media following her tragic death

Holly Hagan believes she received a sign from her late sister, Darci, as she returned to social media for the first time since her sister’s tragic passing on Thursday.

The 33-year-old reality star shared the sad news last week that her 19-year-old sister had passed away after becoming seriously ill.

Okay, so Holly was offline for a tiny bit, and when she came back, she posted the cutest thing! She shared this photo – seriously, it melted my heart – of these gorgeous flowers her sister sent her. But it wasn’t just the flowers, there was this adorable little wooden butterfly attached, and she called it a ‘sign’! I’m officially obsessed with this whole sisterly moment, it’s just so sweet!

The Geordie Shore star wrote: ‘I asked Darci to show me butterflies last week and this turned up’. 

Holly shared a second photo to her Stories thanking fans and friends for their messages of support. 

She also wanted to express her gratitude to everyone who sent messages, flowers, or food.

I apologize for the delay in getting back to everyone. Things have been really overwhelming, and I’m not even sure where to begin. I truly appreciate all of your support, though.

On October 22nd, Holly shared the sad news that her sister had passed away after becoming seriously ill, likely due to drug use.

The TV personality said her family is deeply affected and emotionally scarred by the loss they experienced.

Greater Manchester Police stated that on October 19, 2025, they responded to a call from hospital staff concerned about the well-being of a 19-year-old woman. She had become seriously ill, and authorities suspect drug use was involved.

We are deeply saddened to share that the woman passed away at the hospital Monday evening. We are keeping her family in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time, and the investigation is still underway.

Holly shared on Instagram that she was grateful to the ambulance team and Manchester Royal Infirmary for giving her sister the best possible care.

Holly and Darci are half-sisters who generally keep a low profile. They share the same mother, Vicki, but have different fathers.

My world shattered. It’s… it’s just unbelievable. My sweet little sister, Darci Rose, is gone. She passed away so peacefully, holding my hand, with all of us – family and her closest friends – right there with her. The worst part is knowing she wasn’t in any pain. It feels like a piece of me is missing, and I just… I can’t even begin to process this loss. She was my baby sister, and I loved her so much.

The past four days have been incredibly difficult for our family, an experience we wouldn’t wish on anyone. We’re deeply traumatized, and when we’re ready, we’ll share what happened to Darci.

We kindly ask for your respect and understanding as we take time to process this situation privately.

To the amazing ambulance team and all the staff at Manchester Royal Infirmary’s ASE & ICU, thank you for giving my sister the best possible care.

Thanks to your care, we were able to spend precious final moments with her – holding her hand, stroking her hair, and feeling her heartbeat. We are eternally grateful for how you cared for both her and our family during this incredibly difficult time.

Currently, my main focus is providing for my family and making sure they’re financially secure, so they don’t have to stress about work or money.

Darci is naturally beautiful, but she doesn’t seem to realize it. I used to tell her she’d look better without those over-the-top false eyelashes, but honestly, I was being a bit of a hypocrite – I wore tons of them when I was her age!

Holly explained that her friend was very absent-minded, often leaving lights on, forgetting to lock up, and even leaving the freezer door open, which resulted in a mess of melted food when Holly’s mother checked.

She was a wonderful aunt, and Alpha-Jax absolutely loved her. I’ll always remember her spending his entire birthday playing on the bouncy castle with him and Alba – it’s a really special memory.

She always wanted to work with people, especially children, and really enjoyed helping them. I feel certain she’s continuing that work now, caring for babies in heaven.

I’m not sure if I’m grieving the way I expected, but I truly feel like she’s given me incredible strength and is now watching over all of us, like a guardian angel. We miss and love her so much. She’ll always be 19 in our hearts.

Following support from her TV friends Charlotte Crosby and Sophie Kasaei – who reportedly donated thousands of pounds to a memorial fund for her late sister – Holly’s family is now able to take time off work to grieve.

Holly’s friends from Geordie Shore have been rallying around her during this tough time, and have reportedly collected around £5,000 to help with the costs of a memorial.

Charlotte Crosby and Jake Ankers donated £2,000, while Sophie Kasaei, Adam Frisby, Gaz Beadle, and Nathan Henry each contributed £1,000 or £500. Gaz and Nathan both gave £500.

Back in 2021 Holly penned a sweet message to her sister for her 16th birthday.

I was so happy to share some pictures of my sister Darci and me! I wrote a little birthday message for her, saying ‘Happy 16th birthday to my not-so-little sister Darci. Love you so much, twinny!’ She’s growing up so fast!

Holly previously spoke about Darci in her autobiography.

I’ve always been fascinated by Holly’s honesty, and something she wrote in her book, ‘Not Quite A Geordie,’ really struck me. She described how she felt when her sister, Darci, was born – she loved her instantly, but Darci was so tiny that, as a little girl, Holly admitted she didn’t really know what to do with her at first. It’s such a relatable feeling, actually!

I didn’t really start having fun with her until she got a little older and I began babysitting her.

When she was a baby, she cried a lot and often kept everyone in the house awake. It felt like she didn’t sleep at all for the first two years! She was a really challenging baby.

‘All night long she would let out blood-curdling shrieks at the top of her voice.’ 

Under her post about Darci’s death, her friends offered words of support.

Holly’s Geordie Shore co-star, Nathan Henry, shared his condolences, writing, ‘Holly, I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss and the loss your family is experiencing. Sending you all my love and hugs.’

Kelsey Parked wrote: ‘sending you so much love xxxx.’

I feel so lucky to have met such a wonderful person! I’ll always remember Darci, Alpha Jax’s sister, especially from her birthday – Alba had a lovely day playing with her.

I was immediately drawn to her—Darci just had such a warm and positive energy! She was incredibly kind and thoughtful. This post really touched me and made me so sad. Sending all my love to Holly, her mom, and John.

Shaughna Phillips from Love Island expressed her shock and sadness, saying, “Holly, I can’t believe what I’m reading. I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss and the loss your family is experiencing. Sending all my love and prayers.”

Amber Turner from TOWIE expressed her condolences, sending love and prayers to the bereaved and their family.

Sophie Kasaei, a friend and former colleague of Holly’s, shared her condolences: ‘No family should ever experience such heartbreak. I wish I could ease Holly’s pain. Darci was a wonderful child and will always be remembered, continuing to watch over you and your family.’

I truly admire your strength, and I’m so proud of how you’re holding the family together during this difficult time. I love you more than words can say, and we’ll be here to support you every step of the way as you grieve. We’ll always cherish the memory of our sweet Darci.

Holly is married to footballer Jacob Blyth. They welcomed son Alpha-Jax, now two, in June 2023.
