It seems her recent troubles have caused her to lose the support of her colleagues.
Sydney Sweeney appeared to be warmly welcomed back into Hollywood’s inner circle at Wednesday’s Variety Power of Women: Los Angeles event, where she shared hugs and kisses with stars like Sharon Stone and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Oh my god, did you SEE Zendaya last night? She was absolutely breathtaking! She wore this incredible silver dress, and it was so sheer… like, you could really appreciate everything. Seriously, she just completely slayed, and honestly, I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She knows exactly how to make a statement!
As Sydney posed for photos, Jamie, age 66, came over and gave her a kiss on the cheek with a hug.
Sydney also spent time chatting with Sharon, 67, at the event and was seated next to Christy Martin during dinner.
She seemed much happier, smiling and chatting with guests, which was a noticeable change from how she looked at the Emmy Awards this year.

At the Emmys, Sydney seemed a bit distant from her fellow celebrities, and she didn’t make a very noticeable impression during the evening.
Sydney presented Owen Cooper with the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor, but she wasn’t seen socializing with other celebrities either before or after the ceremony. There are no photos of her backstage or at any of the afterparties.
Sydney was once a favorite in Hollywood, so people are wondering why she had such a small role at the Emmys. Some speculate it’s connected to the recent issues she’s been dealing with.
Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in ‘Anyone But You,’ has faced criticism and controversy after her recent advertising campaign with American Eagle was accused of resembling ‘Nazi propaganda.’
It’s also come to light that the woman is a registered Republican, and this has caused a strong and divided reaction.
However, a significant portion of the Sunday night awards show featured celebrities criticizing President Trump’s policies.
Four days passed after the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, and no one mentioned him being a Republican.
Although celebrities didn’t say anything about Kirk, many of the speeches given on Sunday focused on current political topics.

Hacks star Hannah Einbinder, 30, used the end of her acceptance speech to spotlight Palestine.
After winning the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, the actress ended her speech with a politically charged statement: ‘Go birds! Abolish ICE and free Palestine – thank you!’
Along with many other actors and film professionals – like Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix, Tilda Swinton, and Olivia Colman – she joined a pledge called ‘Film Workers for Palestine’. This pledge commits signatories to boycott Israeli film companies accused of involvement in actions against Palestinians that some consider genocide and apartheid.
After her speech supporting Palestine and her commitment to the boycott, she was asked to explain her views in more detail backstage.
She explained to the press, as reported by Deadline, that she feels a responsibility as a Jewish individual to differentiate between Jewish people and the nation of Israel. She believes Judaism, with its rich history and culture, is a distinct entity from the political state of Israel, which she views as ethno-nationalist.
Boycotts are a powerful way to push those in charge to take action. The Film Workers for Palestine boycott focuses on institutions directly involved in the ongoing violence, not individual people. I believe it’s a crucial step, and I’m glad to support it.
Megan Stalter, the 35-year-old comedian known for her role in HBO’s Hacks, made a statement on the red carpet by having the word ‘Ceasefire!’ written on her purse.
She told Variety that defending others and promoting peace are her top priorities, and that people with a public voice have a responsibility to speak up.

Megan then asked a thought-provoking question: if people with influence attend large events, shouldn’t they use that position to make a difference?
On Sunday, actor Javier Bardem publicly expressed his support for Palestine, joining over 1,800 people in the entertainment industry who have committed to boycotting Israeli film companies.
Oh my god, did you SEE Jared Leto?! He was incredible, wearing this amazing black and white keffiyeh, and he actually spoke out about Palestine during his Variety interview! I’ve been following him for years, but this just… this makes me love him even more. Apparently, he and others put this whole thing together earlier this month, right before the awful anniversary of October 7th. It’s just… powerful. He’s using his platform, and it’s everything!
It’s hard to ignore the political differences at tonight’s Hollywood event, especially considering Sydney’s Republican views stand in stark contrast to those of most of her colleagues.
The actress recently faced criticism for an American Eagle ad campaign featuring the tagline ‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.’ Some people argued the ad promoted harmful ideas related to eugenics and aligned with far-right political views.
In a recent advertisement, Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in ‘Anyone But You,’ playfully connected genetics to her appearance. While buttoning a pair of blue jeans, she stated that traits like hair and eye color, and even personality, are inherited from parents – and that her own genes are blue.
Oh my gosh, you guys, there’s this new clip and she looks absolutely incredible! She’s wearing this denim jumpsuit, and it’s so flattering, but the neckline… it’s so low-cut. The camera just slowly pans down, and honestly, it’s breathtaking. I’ve rewatched it like a million times!
She explained that her body type was largely due to her genetics, then playfully told someone to look at her face instead of down below. The camera quickly reframed to show her face.

The campaign drew criticism from some social media users who called it ‘Nazi propaganda,’ while others dismissed the criticism as excessive and irrational.
Despite the recent criticism, the brand has actually seen a boost in profits, earning $1.28 billion since June, according to figures released on Wednesday.
After the market closed, investors reacted positively to the news, driving the clothing store’s stock price up by 25%. However, the stock remains 18% lower than it was at the beginning of the year.
Advertising experts previously explained to the Daily Mail that the controversial ad was designed to get people talking.
According to Las Vegas publicist Alexandria Hurley, Sydney Sweeney hasn’t made a public relations mistake, despite recent attention.
Sydney has faced some public criticism before, like with her sketch on Saturday Night Live and her recent partnership with Dr. Squatch. But instead of apologizing or backing down, she’s consistently doubled down on her choices. This isn’t accidental; it’s a deliberate tactic.
Despite this approach, it didn’t improve ticket sales for the new movies released in Sydney during August.
Ron Howard’s new survival thriller, Eden, which cost $50 million to make, had a disappointing opening weekend, earning only $1 million from 664 theaters.

Despite featuring a well-known cast, the movie didn’t do well in theaters, possibly because critics weren’t very impressed.
Her movie, Americana, earned just $500,000 during its opening weekend, despite costing $9 million to make. This happened the weekend before last.
Public records show that Sydney registered as a Republican with the Republican Party of Florida in June 2024, in Monroe County, Florida. This information was recently reported by the Daily Mail.
Buzzfeed first reported the story shortly after a post gained popularity on X (formerly Twitter).
Someone mentioned they were planning a YouTube video analyzing Sydney Sweeney’s career and choices—not to defend her, but to provide background—and discovered she’s a registered Republican as of 2024.
In 2022, Sydney avoided directly addressing a controversy after photos surfaced of guests at her mother’s birthday party wearing hats resembling those from Donald Trump’s campaign.
She admitted to GQ that she doesn’t think anything she could say would make a difference in the current discussion. She feels it’s spiraled out of control and can’t be steered back on course.
