The Finals mark the end of the first competitive season for FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves. Players competed over a lengthy period to qualify for The King of Fighters XV (KOF XV), and we’re also seeing a revival of the Samurai Shodown series.

When KOF XV first launched, even Tekken champion Arslan Ash complimented it, noting it improved his skills. The event will last three days, running from October 31st to November 1st. It will feature the Last Chance Qualifier matches, as well as the top 32 and 16 player brackets.

The SNK World Championship 2025 will include matches for Art of Fighting 3, a fighting game released in 1996 that blends 2D gameplay with 3D effects. While it might not be a major event for most gamers, fans of classic retro games can tune in to the official broadcasts.

However, a limited number of players can still advance from the Last Chance Qualifiers.

Samurai Shodown

The news that Samurai Shodown will be included in the SNK World Championship 2025 was a pleasant surprise announced mid-season. The game is a continuation of a beloved series, known for its distinct and brutal fighting style, which sets it apart from games like Mortal Kombat and the new Invincible VS.

Samurai Shodown faced a tough launch with its 2019 reboot, as the pandemic prevented it from gaining traction in the esports scene. While this World Finals event might not be enough to make it a major esport, it should definitely attract some new players and remind people what a great game it is. It’s well worth checking out!

The King of Fighters XV

The King of Fighters is a truly unique fighting game. Unlike many modern tag-team fighters, it features teams of three characters who fight one after another. It also demands a wider range of skills than standard one-on-one fighting games.

At last year’s SNK World Championship, The King of Fighters XV was the only game played. Laggia was the champion, but unfortunately, they didn’t qualify for this year’s tournament.

• ViolentKain won Combo Breaker 2024.
• mok was in the top 3 of the previous Finals, and he finished 2nd at KOF XV Evo Japan 2025.
• E.T. won Evo Japan 2025 and Evo 2025 EVO 2025 Extended Lineup.

FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves

The biggest match of the 2025 SNK World Championship is undoubtedly here: Fatal Fury was so important that the tournament was extended over two years to include it.

Shortly after the game launched, Xiaohai proved to be a dominant player, winning both Evo Japan 2025 and becoming the FATAL FURY champion at Evo France 2025.

The next season saw changes to how players competed. While a few characters were initially very strong, the developers added new fighters to encourage a wider variety of choices in tournaments.

GO1 proved to be a dominant force in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves esports, ultimately reaching the top. They secured a spot in the SNK World Championship 2025 Final by winning Combo Breaker 2025, then continued their success by winning both Evo 2025 and the FATAL FURY EWC 2025.

• Fenritti was really strong in the first half of the season. He won the Brussels Challenge Major Edition 2025.
• ET won VSFighting XIII, so this KOF legend competes in FATAL FURY too.

It feels like SNK Corporation will soon announce details about the 2026 World Championship and what’s coming next in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves.
