Justin Bieber admits to ‘butting heads’ with doula while wife Hailey gave birth to their son

Justin Bieber shared his experience of his son Jack’s birth, revealing he and the doula had some disagreements during what was a very emotional time.

The 31-year-old singer and his wife, Hailey, welcomed their son last August, when he was one year old. Hailey, 28, has previously shared details about the difficult experience of giving birth.

He revealed it during a Twitch stream on Monday, and honestly, it was the most amazing thing ever. It’s so rare to get a glimpse into his personal life, and hearing him share that… I’m still freaking out!

Justin recently started a new career as a streamer, launching his own Twitch account last week to mark the change.

The performer was sitting and chatting with friends, and recalled a time when there was some conflict with someone, saying, ‘I remember there being tension with…’

It was a bit stressful during labor, honestly. We hired both a doula and a nurse, but they didn’t really see eye-to-eye, and things got tense between me and the doula too. It felt like everyone had different ideas of what I needed, and it was hard to navigate all of that while I was in labor.

He continued, explaining that the moment was incredibly moving for him, as it felt like a truly significant life event.

I recall Justin saying he was trying to be supportive and strong for Hailey with the doula, but she started to get really anxious about what was happening. It was clear she was getting worried, and he was trying his best to help her through it.

She told me I needed to apologize to the doula and just clear the air.

The actor said he did apologize to the doula, but he felt the situation was being controlled by others and prevented him from responding naturally as a father and husband.

I apologized, explaining that I was feeling emotional and didn’t want to diminish his experience as a father, because I was also really excited about the moment.

Justin explained that sometimes Hailey needs support, and he felt like she wasn’t letting him be there for her.

The music artist said that he felt at the time that he also had ‘good instincts’ as a father. 

Being a dad feels natural – you just want to be present and supportive. It’s about being there to help, even when you’re not sure what needs doing, and asking for help when you do.

Justin started to explain what he needed, but his voice faded out. A friend quickly added, ‘You wanted to be involved too, right?’ and Justin confirmed that was exactly it.

Last August, Justin and Hailey announced the birth of their son, Jack Blues, with a heartwarming post on Instagram.

The singer shared a picture of his newborn son’s foot on social media, writing ‘WELCOME HOME. JACK BLUES BIEBER’ and adding a bear emoji.

I was really touched when Hailey openly shared her birth story with Jack. She didn’t shy away from talking about how difficult her labor was, or the challenges she faced afterward – it was so brave of her to be so honest about the whole experience.

It was a really intense experience, and honestly, not enjoyable at all,” she shared with Vogue in May. “They had to break my water to start labor, and I ended up laboring for several hours, without any pain medication like an epidural.

She also recalled having to be induced and went on to welcome her son after 18 hours of labor. 

Oh my gosh, I was SO worried when I heard! Apparently, Hailey had a really scary postpartum hemorrhage after giving birth. She actually said she genuinely thought she might not make it – like, she thought she was going to die! It was terrifying to hear, and I just kept replaying it in my head, imagining how scared she must have been.

I have complete faith in my doctor, which gave me comfort knowing she’d do everything to protect me. However, I was losing a lot of blood, and it’s natural to worry about the possibility of a fatal outcome.

Hailey recently shared that she’s been kind to herself as her body has adjusted after having a baby, and it hasn’t immediately returned to its pre-pregnancy state.

She’s come to terms with the fact that her body has changed and isn’t what it used to be.

Last week on the In Your Dreams podcast, Hailey shared her thoughts on having more children with Justin Bieber.

She explained that she ‘definitely’ wants more and explained, ‘I know I want more than one.’ 

She shared that becoming a mother was always a dream of hers, something she’d imagined since childhood.

It’s funny—now that I’m older and have a child, I realize any choice someone makes about having kids is incredible.

You know, before my son arrived, I was honestly a little intimidated by the idea of becoming a mom. It’s funny, looking back, I realized I was definitely feeling some anxieties about the unknown. I just had no idea what motherhood would really be like, and that was a bit scary!

After having a baby, you really just take things one day at a time. Each day brings new lessons about motherhood – figuring out what’s best for my son and also for me as a parent.

Hailey shared that she has regular childcare assistance with her son, Jack, and is completely comfortable with that decision.

I’m always happy to talk about the support I’ve received, because I wouldn’t be where I am today without it, and I’m truly thankful.
