Disneyland Resort in Anaheim recently cut around 100 jobs, as parent company Walt Disney Co. joins a growing number of media and entertainment businesses reducing its workforce.
The layoffs occurred Tuesday and came from multiple teams, Disney confirmed.
Okay, so Disneyland just released a statement that, while things are currently stable, they’re restructuring the company to prepare for the future and keep those guest experiences top-notch. Unfortunately, that means they’ve had to make some tough calls and are eliminating a small number of salaried positions. It’s a bit of a bummer, but they’re framing it as necessary for long-term success.

The park is celebrating its 70th anniversary and has recently raised prices for one-day tickets. They’ve also launched a new deal specifically for California residents.
According to a company insider who asked not to be named, the layoffs happened because the parks hired a lot of people when they reopened after the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic was over.
Disney’s theme parks are a major economic engine for the Burbank media and entertainment giant.
Disney’s theme parks, cruise line, and Hawaiian resort (Aulani) were responsible for almost 60% of the company’s profits last year.
Earlier this month, the company announced price hikes on most of its single-day, one-park tickets.
The recent layoffs at Disneyland are part of a larger trend of job cuts happening across the entertainment and technology industries.
Paramount cut 1,000 jobs on Wednesday as the first step in restructuring after David Ellison’s Skydance Media acquired the company. Other major companies, including Amazon, Meta, Charter Communications, and NBC News, have also recently announced layoffs.
