The most recent episode of Dancing With The Stars, a Halloween-themed night, delivered a surprising twist: Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik were eliminated. It was particularly shocking considering Ravnik, a dancer on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, was sent home after performing to two of her songs. This elimination comes right after professional dancer Maks Chmerkovskiy shared his thoughts on his work on the show, and Ravnik has now publicly responded to those comments.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy had said that Val Ravnik shouldn’t be a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars because he didn’t have a background in ballroom. While Jennifer Lopez’s husband appeared to address those comments, Ravnik waited until he was eliminated from the show to share his reaction with Us Weekly. Here’s what he had to say:
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and you can’t control what others think. People who dislike us will dislike us, and those who support us will support us. There’s no point in trying to change anyone’s mind. I’ll simply respect or disregard their opinions as I see fit. Let them talk if that’s what keeps them engaged.
The Eras Tour dancer clearly wasn’t shy about sharing his opinion and appears to be moving past comments made by Maks Chmerkovskiy.
Although Maks’ brother, Val Chmerkovskiy, is still on Dancing With The Stars this season with Alix Earle, he hasn’t actually danced on the show since Season 25. Despite not competing, he’s been openly sharing his opinions about the show and its contestants.

Let’s get back to the eliminations. Jen and Jan scored third from the bottom on “Halloween Night,” beating out Elaine Hendrix, who couldn’t compete because of an injury, and Andy Richter. Despite consistently receiving low scores, Richter continued to stay on Dancing With The Stars, and his performance this week playfully referenced his role in Scary Movie 2.
The biggest surprise about Jan and Jen being eliminated from Dancing With The Stars is that, ultimately, it’s more about popularity than skill. I really thought they’d make it to the finale, assuming the large fanbase of his partner would keep them safe through the voting. However, that didn’t happen, and it seems more people were voting for Andy Richter.
Despite receiving lower scores, Richter and Elaine Hendrix stayed on the show longer than Jan Ravnik and Jennifer Affleck, and a few things likely contributed to that. Hendrix probably benefited from sympathy votes after getting injured during practice and having to sit out the competition.
People discovered online that it was Richter’s birthday, though Dancing With The Stars didn’t acknowledge it. Many fans likely found out anyway! It’s also becoming clear that he’s a popular contestant. Regardless, I’m excited to continue watching the rest of the season using my Disney+ subscription.
