Viewers on Prime Video are really enjoying the action movie starring Jason Statham. It’s once again a top-10 hit on the Amazon streaming service.
I was checking out the charts on FlixPatrol, and I couldn’t believe A Working Man is currently number 3 on Prime Video’s Top 10! It’s jumped up three places this week, which is awesome. Right now, only Play Dirty, the new Shane Black action flick, and Wicked, the first part of Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of the Broadway musical, are ahead of it. It’s cool to see this film doing so well, even though it didn’t quite reach the box office heights of Jason Statham’s previous movie, The Beekeeper. Still, nearly $99 million worldwide is nothing to sneeze at, and it definitely proved to be a bit of a surprise hit!
David Ayer, the director of The Beekeeper, brings us A Working Man, an action film starring Jason Statham. Statham plays Levon Cade, a former Royal Marine who now works construction. When his boss’s daughter is kidnapped by human traffickers, Levon takes matters into his own hands to rescue her. The movie is based on the novel Levon’s Trade by Chuck Dixon, and the screenplay was written by Sylvester Stallone – their fifth collaboration following The Expendables trilogy and Homefront. While the film did reasonably well in theaters, critics weren’t impressed, giving it a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
What’s Next for Jason Statham?
Jason Statham recently collaborated with director Guy Ritchie on two action films, but his next three projects will be directed by different filmmakers. His first new movie, Shelter, is scheduled for release on January 30, 2026. The film follows a solitary man (Statham) living by the sea who inadvertently becomes embroiled in danger after saving a girl from a storm, forcing him to face his past. The cast also includes Bodhi Rae, Naomi Ackie, and Bill Nighy.
Following the film Shelter, comes Mutiny, a new action thriller directed by Jean-François Richet. Jason Statham plays Cole, a former Special Forces officer and NYPD cop now working in private security. When Cole’s billionaire employer is murdered and he’s wrongly accused, he sets out alone on a cargo ship to find the killer. His quest for revenge soon uncovers a much larger international conspiracy.
As a Jason Statham fan, I’m really excited about The Beekeeper 2 – it’s the third movie of his coming out soon! Luckily, a lot of the original cast are returning, like Jeremy Irons and Emmy Raver-Lampman, but they’ve also added some new faces – Yara Shahidi, Adam Copeland, and Pom Klementieff, to name a few. The best part? They’re already filming! Amazon MGM Studios hasn’t given us a release date yet, but I’m already counting down the days.
A Working Man is currently streaming on Prime Video.
