The Great British Bake Off: Toby Littlewood breaks down after being eliminated in tense semi final as Tom, Jasmine and Aaron become finalists

Tuesday night’s episode of The Great British Bake Off revealed the three finalists who will compete after a challenging Patisserie Week tested their skills.

Toby, Aaron, Tom, and Jasmine competed in the semi-final, hoping to reach the final round as the heat intensified inside the iconic tent.

Toby was eliminated from the competition after not receiving as much praise from judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith as the other contestants, but Jasmine was crowned Star Baker.

After leaving, an emotional Toby shared that he’d made the decision difficult for the others, and they had acknowledged that – which he felt good about. He added that what he enjoyed most about being in the tent was the company of the people around him.

Honestly, watching the show, even Prue and Paul admitted sending Toby home was the hardest thing they’d had to do all season. It was a really difficult decision for them, you could tell!

During Patisserie Week, the remaining bakers created cream horns, delicate glass domes, and impressive macarons. Unfortunately, only three contestants were able to advance to the final.

The technical challenge involved a difficult raspberry cake, and Jasmine created the most impressive one, ultimately winning the round.

The final challenge, called the Showstopper, required contestants to build a tower using at least 30 macarons. The design of the tower needed to have personal significance for each baker.

Aaron faced a setback when his first attempt at the sloth-themed project didn’t work out, forcing him to quickly start over.

A teaser at the end of the semi final teased some drama in the tent. 

This follows Iain Ross’s recent elimination, where he just missed making it to the semifinals last week.

The remaining amateur bakers battled it out in the tent for Dessert Week.

Unfortunately for Iain, aka ‘Yeastie Boy’, he became the one to leave the show.

Immediately after hearing the news, Iain expressed his surprise, saying he never expected to get this far in the competition. He admitted he initially thought he’d be eliminated within the first few weeks, making his quarter-final placement completely unexpected and a fantastic achievement.

It’s been a wonderful experience with this group of bakers. We’ve become great friends and always have fun together. It’s truly been fantastic.

I already knew I was likely going to be eliminated when Noel entered the tent, so I was simply anticipating him confirming it.

‘I felt like it was my time and I was just grateful to have gotten as far as I did.

The other bakers were wonderful people, and we all became really good friends. So, when I was eliminated, I wasn’t too upset, and we were even able to joke about me avoiding Pastry Week!

‘We have a wee group chat where everyone writes lovely messages whenever someone leaves.

‘So it was great to see everyone’s kind words!’

He was eliminated after Jasmine, a medical student, was named Star Baker for the week.

The bakers visited Spain for the first challenge of the show, where they had to create a flawless Basque cheesecake.

In the Technical, Prue set a particularly perilous pudding challenge with a gluten free sponge.

For the final challenge, called the Showstopper, the bakers had to create an incredibly detailed trifle that could stand on its own.

The week before viewers watched as Lesley Holloway was sent packing from the famous tent.
