Brenda Blethyn has spoken out in support of Kevin Spacey, the Academy Award-winning actor, following his acquittal on several criminal charges.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve followed this case closely. Previously, Mr. Spacey faced criminal charges related to allegations made by four men concerning incidents that reportedly occurred between 2001 and 2013. He was ultimately found not guilty in those criminal proceedings.

The actor, 66, has denied all allegations of inappropriate behaviour and criminal wrongdoing.

Brenda worked with Spacey when he directed her in the Bobby Darin biopic Beyond The Sea in 2004.

In a recent interview, 79-year-old Brenda stated that enjoying her appetite isn’t something to be ashamed of, while discussing her experiences working with Kevin Spacey.

Oh my gosh, Brenda actually talked about Harvey Weinstein! She said he was totally creepy, which, honestly, doesn’t even begin to cover it. But the worst part? He’d call you, personally, to make sure you were voting for him when it was time for nominations! Can you believe the nerve? It just proves what a controlling person he was, even back then. I’m so glad she finally spoke up about it!

It felt very forced and controlling. Because of that, I’m inclined to believe the terrible accusations against him, but I don’t believe the ones about Kevin Spacey.

Speaking of Spacey, she added: ‘He was great’

This is a complicated situation. Simply having desires isn’t a crime, but the alleged actions are terrible. However, he hasn’t been convicted of anything, some accusers have retracted their statements, and his career is now destroyed.

She told the Telegraph that wanting something isn’t wrong, but trying to make someone else want it is. As a woman, she added, she hadn’t seen any proof of the terrible claims being made.

In an interview with Dan Wootton, who used to present for GB News, Kevin Spacey stated that he accepts responsibility for his past actions. However, he refuses to take responsibility or apologize to anyone he believes has fabricated or embellished stories about him.

Kevin Spacey, a celebrated actor with two Academy Awards, is famous for his roles in both the American version of House of Cards and the film American Beauty.

He won two Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actor for The Usual Suspects in 1996, and Best Actor for American Beauty in 2000. He also received a BAFTA award for his leading role in American Beauty.

Last April, the actor seemed to downplay allegations of misconduct related to a Channel 4 documentary, instead complimenting the actors involved for their performances.

Channel 4’s documentary series, broadcast nine months after Kevin Spacey was acquitted of nine sexual assault charges, examined new allegations from several men—most of whom were speaking publicly about their experiences for the first time.

This documentary closely examines the life of a formerly beloved and highly regarded actor.

Spacey appeared to dismiss the show as not being based on reality in a statement to Variety magazine.

He expressed his excitement about returning to Warner Brothers for his first film in a long time. He also hopes the Academy will recognize the talented performances of some of the film’s less famous actors.

In May 2024, he thanked his fellow actors for defending him amidst the sexual abuse allegations.

Many famous actors, such as Liam Neeson and Sharon Stone, have publicly supported the Oscar-winning actor, urging an end to what they call his seven-year banishment.
