Okay, so you might have heard that Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton recently left Nova 919 here in Adelaide. Well, get ready for some exciting news! I’m hearing they’re about to make a big return – they’re heading to Mix 102.3! It’s fantastic to see talent like theirs get another chance to shine, and I think listeners are going to be thrilled.
Sources say the radio station is expected to announce a new breakfast show team on Wednesday. They’re likely to be replacing Hayley Pearson and Max Burford, with the change taking effect in 2026.
This change follows a difficult period for Harvey and Stapleton, as their “Late Drive” show on Nova, which they co-hosted with Belle Jackson, was unexpectedly cancelled last month.
The last episode of Nova they were scheduled to broadcast on December 12th never aired, as staff were suddenly told the team had departed.
It’s not yet clear whether Jackson will join them in their new gig.
In 2020, Harvey and Stapleton began working with the Nova Network, initially hosting the breakfast show in Adelaide. They moved to Melbourne and continued their show there in early 2023.

They brought back veteran producer Jackson and chose a new panel to replace Chrissie Swan, Jonathan Brown, and Sam Pang in the popular time slot.
The trio returned to Adelaide in July, broadcasting from Nova’s Hindmarsh Square studios.
Mix’s breakfast show hosts, Pearson and Burford, were scheduled to leave on December 12th, but they left right away after being told their contracts were cancelled.
The station recently finished fourth in the city’s radio ratings, behind Triple M, Nova 919, and FIVEaa.
The Australian Radio Network (ARN) has indicated the new lineup will keep the focus local.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited to hear ARN is taking things to the next level! Lauren Joyce, their Chief Audience and Content Officer, has promised us even more amazing live content – stuff that really stands out and feels special to Adelaide. It sounds like they’re completely rethinking how they entertain us and build a real connection with the audience, and honestly, I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
The journey of Harvey and Stapleton, from radio school students at Sean Craig Murphy’s Australian Radio School to established FM radio personalities, is a true radio success story.
The team began their radio careers at Fresh FM, gained experience at Triple J, and then moved to Nova. They’ve developed a strong on-air personality that Mix 94.5 hopes will boost their breakfast show ratings.

Over the past twenty years, the station has seen several different hosts come and go in this time slot, including Kym Dillon, Ali Clarke, and Jodie Oddy. Its performance has been somewhat inconsistent during that time.
Clarke’s breakfast show didn’t perform as well as hoped in 2022, creating an opportunity for Harvey and Stapleton to take the lead.
Adelaide radio listeners are excited about the possibility of their beloved on-air team making a comeback to morning broadcasts on a different station. The official announcement will be made at ARN’s Upfronts event on Wednesday.
Another radio show was canceled this week, making it the second one to be taken off the air in just seven days.
ARN revealed on Monday that Hayley & Max in the Morning was being scrapped.
The show, led by Max Burford and Hayley Pearson since January, caused a stir in July when Keith Urban abruptly ended an interview after being asked about his split from Nicole Kidman.
Oh my gosh, he was so happy talking to the radio guys! He said playing in Adelaide is always a good time, which, honestly, I totally get! It’s where the show’s from, and he just seems to love it there. I’m so jealous of everyone who gets to see him perform there!
But things started to go downhill when Keith said he’d play the show’s main game, Wall of Truth.
Max wondered what Keith Urban must think watching his wife, Nicole Kidman, share romantic scenes with younger actors like Zac Efron on television. No one responded to his question.
The crew soon realised they had offended Keith, who had left the call.
‘I thought we were vibing with Keith… Do we have beef now?’ Max joked at the time.
