Westlife pay heartfelt tribute to absent Mark Feehily and use a stand-in to sing his iconic Flying Without Wings lines during epic Royal Albert Hall 25th anniversary show

Westlife celebrated their 25th anniversary with a concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Monday night.

The popular group, featuring Shane Filan, Kian Egan, and Nicky Byrne, marked a special anniversary with concerts on Monday and Tuesday. Mark Feehily wasn’t able to perform due to health issues, but remains an important member of the band.

During the concert, where the band performed with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Shane honored their bandmate, who isn’t touring with them but is featured on their latest songs.

When the group performed their 1999 hit, “Flying Without Wings,” they had singer Kirsten Joy, known from The Voice and Clean Bandit, perform the parts originally sung by Mark – often considered the best vocals in the group’s entire career.

Oh my gosh, it totally broke my heart when Shane spoke about Mark. He said we all miss him so much and that they can’t wait to have him back on stage with them! I seriously got chills. It’s just… Mark is everything to this band, and to us fans, and knowing he’s not here tonight is just awful. But hearing Shane talk about him like that… it gives me hope he’ll be back where he belongs soon!

He’s really into the new music, including the song ‘Chariot’ that you’ve already heard. Plus, we’re releasing a new album in February!

We’re going to play Mark’s favorite song next – hopefully that gives you a clue what it is! It’s a really lovely tune, and we’d like to dedicate it to him tonight. We’re thrilled to have Kirsten Joy join us on stage to sing it.

‘This song is probably the song that changed our whole career.’

Earlier this year, it was announced that Mark wouldn’t be able to rejoin his band because of health problems.

Even though the singer wasn’t present, Shane recently emphasized how valuable it was to have him on the song, praising his excellent vocals. One of the tracks featuring the singer, called ‘Chariot,’ came out on Friday.

Shane recently shared an update with RTE News about Mark, explaining that while Mark won’t be able to participate in the tour, as he previously stated, he was thrilled to contribute to their new song.

He’s still with the band and sounds fantastic on our new music. We’ve recorded four new songs and plan to release an album after Christmas.

This album is a collection of the artist’s biggest hits, plus four brand new tracks. One of those new songs, releasing next Friday, is a particularly energetic and catchy tune, and we’re thrilled to have him featured on it.

A happy fan posted a clip from the RTE interview, noting that Shane confirmed Mark remains a member of Westlife and sounds fantastic on their new tracks.

He announced that the upcoming greatest hits album will include four new songs, with the first one being released this Friday. The album is scheduled to come out after Christmas.

After two incredibly popular shows in London, the band announced a world tour, exciting fans everywhere. They shared a sneak peek on Instagram on Thursday.

The short preview showed an airport departure board, the kind that lists flight times and gate numbers. This is a reference to the music video for their 2000 song ‘My Love,’ where the band members were stuck at an airport.

The teaser also includes a reference to their second album, ‘Coast To Coast’, with the phrase ‘Coast To Coast Airlines’ appearing on the shutterboard. Throughout the teaser, the tour dates briefly flash on the screen.

Westlife celebrated 25 years as a group, saying it feels like their journey is just beginning.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the support from our fans! We’re so excited to celebrate with you all by hitting the road for a world tour, releasing new music, and sharing our brand new album. We can’t wait to see you and experience this next adventure together!

With new music on the way and a world tour planned, it’s a really exciting time for Westlife and their fans! We’re all looking forward to seeing what they do next.
