Noel Gallagher’s handwritten lyrics for Oasis hit Don’t Look Back In Anger are sold for FIVE times their value as bidding war climbs to £20,000

The original handwritten lyrics to Oasis’ famous song, Don’t Look Back In Anger, written by Noel Gallagher, recently sold for more than £20,000.

The singer’s handwritten lyrics unexpectedly sold for five times the estimated price at auction. Propstore, a collectables company, had originally valued the lyrics at £4,000.

According to What’s The Jam, the handwritten lyrics—scrawled in blue ink on a faded, crumpled piece of paper—sold for £20,160 last Friday after a competitive auction.

Widely considered a signature song for Oasis, this track was featured on their popular second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?

As a lifestyle expert, I often get asked about timeless music, and this track definitely fits the bill! It originally came out in 1995, and it quickly became a fan favorite. In fact, the album it’s on is considered by many to be the band’s absolute best work – it even won British Album of the Year in 1996, which is a huge honor!

According to Mark Hochman, Propstore’s music expert, their upcoming auction is a tribute to music history. It features iconic guitars, original song lyrics, and personal belongings that offer fans a unique look into the lives of their favorite artists.

Fans have also spent significant amounts of money on Oasis memorabilia, recently bidding over £28,000 for previously unreleased footage of the band’s Glasgow performance where they were first discovered.

Liam and Noel Gallagher performed one of their earliest concerts at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in the city on May 31st, 1993.

Alan McGee, the head of Creation Records, was in the audience and immediately offered them a record contract.

A Japanese student named Ayako Misawa, who was studying in Glasgow, filmed the performance with her camcorder.

A short clip of her singing was included in the 2016 Oasis documentary, Supersonic, but the complete nine-minute recording hasn’t been released until now.

The film footage, along with the rights to it, was auctioned by Propstore and was expected to sell for between £4,000 and £8,000.

But it sparked a competitive bidding war and fetched a final price of £28,350.

This collection features Ms. Misawa’s original Sony Handycam Video8 camcorder, along with the cassette tape, battery, charger, and her concert ticket.

The listing described the videotape as a recording of a pivotal Oasis concert – the one that helped launch the band to fame and ignited the Britpop movement of the 1990s.

Oasis kicked off their tour on July 4th with a packed show at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

It is scheduled to end on November 23 in São Paolo, Brazil.

The tour marks Oasis’s first live appearances since they split acrimoniously in 2009.
