The dress was a copy of one famously worn by Rita Hayworth in the 1946 movie Gilda. But beyond just being a copy, it represented something much more significant.
Nicole Kidman turned heads on Sunday at a Hollywood-themed Vogue fashion show, not just as a guest, but also as a model. Many viewers saw her stunning black, strapless Chanel gown as a bold and glamorous statement, reminiscent of a ‘revenge dress’.
For if living well is the best revenge, dressing well is surely a very close second.
The night Prince Charles publicly confessed to his affair, Princess Diana dramatically shifted public perception with her choice of attire – a little black, off-the-shoulder dress by Christina Stambolian. She instantly moved from being seen as a wronged woman to a confident and alluring figure.
Although there’s no indication that cheating caused Nicole Kidman, 58, and Keith Urban, 58, to separate, reports claiming she was completely surprised by the split have led some people to see her as the one who was wronged.
Even though they announced their split at the end of September, the couple is still following each other on Instagram.

Nicole currently follows just 372 people on the platform – and Keith remains one of them.
Similarly, the country singer only follows 115 people on social media, and his ex-wife, Nicole, is still one of them.
Even a beautiful Chanel dress can’t solve problems in a marriage – it takes more than just appearances.
It’s hard to imagine a more prominent or satisfying boost to one’s ego than Nicole Kidman’s role in Vogue World: Hollywood – she had the honor of both beginning and ending the 30-minute fashion show.
Kendall Jenner walked the runway in a recreation of the iconic costume worn by Nicole Kidman as Satine in the 2001 movie, Moulin Rouge!
Baz Luhrmann, the director of the film, also handled the show’s choreography. Vogue World, now in its fourth year, transforms exclusive fashion shows into public events, offering tickets to raise money for charity.
Okay, so last year’s show was in Paris, which was amazing because it felt like a little preview of the Olympics, but THIS year? Oh my gosh, this year was a dream! It was held right on the Paramount Pictures studio lot in Los Angeles, and it just perfectly matched the whole vibe of the show – celebrating how much fashion and movies just love each other. It was like stepping into a movie itself!
Many of Hollywood’s biggest stars came out to show their support, with actresses Angela Bassett and Julia Garner even walking in the show.

The event was attended by a star-studded guest list including Gwyneth Paltrow, Dakota Johnson, Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, Miley Cyrus, Venus Williams, Heidi Klum, and Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham.
The evening celebrated not only Nicole Kidman, but also Dame Anna Wintour, 75. After nearly 40 years as editor-in-chief of Vogue, she recently stepped down from that role, though she continues to oversee the magazine’s editorial direction globally.
The event beautifully showcased her talent for bringing together major figures from the fashion and film industries to support a worthy cause.
I was so thrilled to hear that Conde Nast announced they raised a total of £3.4 million to help costume designers who were impacted by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles earlier this year. It’s amazing to see support for those in the industry who really needed it!
