Jeremy Allen White Explains Those Shots He Took At Marvel Studios After Bad Meeting

Jeremy Allen White wants to clarify some comments he made about a meeting with studio executives. He previously admitted in a 2023 interview that he wasn’t interested in discussing a potential role in a superhero movie when he attended the meeting. He now seems to regret how he phrased things.

After achieving success with shows like Shameless, a well-received role alongside Zac Efron in The Iron Claw, and then starring in The Bear, Jeremy Allen White admitted he completely fumbled a recent meeting, letting his accomplishments get to his head.

In a 2023 interview with GQ, he recounted an experience during a meeting for a superhero-type film where he was confrontational. He admitted he handled the situation poorly, explaining that he essentially challenged the filmmakers to justify why he should star in their movie. Their response was hostile, and he responded with approval, saying something along the lines of ‘That’s exactly what I expected.’

By 2025, Jeremy Allen White had time to reflect on the situation and realized how much he regretted his actions. He didn’t just admit he’d made a mistake; he strongly stated that his behavior had been completely unacceptable.

He admitted his behavior was inappropriate during a conversation with Josh Horowitz. He explained it came from feeling excluded, like he wasn’t invited to something and didn’t want to be there anyway. He also acknowledged he could have approached a particular meeting in a better way.

He didn’t stop there though, not by a long shot.

It’s not that I dislike the genre, it’s more about finding my place within it and what I can bring to it. There was a time when appearing in one of these films practically guaranteed you could get any movie produced. Now, even if you find a great script and try to get it made, I’m not sure that guarantee still exists.

Jeremy Allen White Can, At Times, Be a Bear

This actor, originally from Brooklyn, is famous for speaking his mind. Some people agree with his concerns about whether he truly fits into the Marvel universe, but many other actors have become so strongly associated with their Marvel roles that it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing those characters.

It’s impossible to know who will become a major star within the Marvel Cinematic Universe – look at the surprising success stories of Robert Downey Jr., Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson, and many others. So, Jeremy Allen White shouldn’t underestimate his potential to create a memorable character. However, reports suggest his meeting with Marvel executives didn’t go as planned, as he apparently presented himself with the confidence of someone like Tom Cruise.

Jeremy Allen White is a very talented actor, but his behavior in that meeting was surprisingly overconfident. However, there’s still a possibility he could redeem himself. Since Hulu streams The Bear and Disney now owns Hulu, there might be another opportunity to make a better impression.
